This is my first time growing and im doing an early 12/12, I am 2 months in and my plant is already 4'9 but the buds that are coming through are tiny, I was wondering if i should have lights hitting from the sides not just the top.

yea i agree its streched like a motha.....get them cfl's about an inch from the top bud....plus feed it some molasses that will help fatten them up a bit.... 1tsp per gallon water

I always keep it about an inch or 2 away but this plant grows like theres no tomorrow she grows about a 1/2 to 1 inch everyday

yeah surround your plant with CFL's, as well as hitting them from the top.
molasses was a good suggestion.
if buds get bigger, definitely get some bamboo rods to support your branches. i fear they might not be strong enough by then.

Thanks you guys your advice is much appreciated , so if i were to start mollases do you guys think it will actually affect it this far in? And do i keep the bamboo next to the branches for support?

yeah what they said was right...keep your lights close from the beginning. I witnessed a grow where molasses was introduced less than two weeks from sprout. They are all over fourteen inches wide (untopped) tallest over 20" with stems over half an inch thick. They are going for the max and won't force flowering until week eight...they are less than 7 weeks from sprout. Hope I get to see them again in a couple weeks.
Close lights and molasses are a great mix...

Im goin to get some mollases tomorrow and see how tht works. I just now found some seed pods but only on about 2 or 3 bud sites, is this a hermi?

A classic looking Sativa. Yes closer lights would have prevented the stretch, do you have good air circulation (fans) for stiff cellulose? otherwise those buds can end up breaking branches if not supported by a stake later in the flowering stage. Why mollasse? what are the benefits beside to feed nitrogen fixing bacteria and fungi carbohydrates, are you feeding compost or liquid fertilizer?
