First Time Grow Journal from: Seed to Harvest - seeds from Attitude Seed Bank

Hello all! I am starting my FIRST ever grow and VERY excited about it! All feedback is greatly appreciated!

I have the following seeds: Barney's Farm : Tangerine Dream (FEM), LSD (FEM), Pineapple Express (FEM), and White Widow (Reg).

I started with 6 plants total to start my first run at. I started the germination process on August 3, 2011. They all popped by August 5, 2011. I planted them into root riot starter cubes and started light on them with 2x24watt T5 HO lights.

I wanted to do something different so I took 2 of the cubes and planted them into a solo cup with coco soil-less mix. I am now on day 6 of the grow - 4 are still in the root riot cubes - making a nice root mass inside the cube medium.

I started a VERY light (160ppm) mixture of Root 66 and PH'd RO (using a GROWONIX 150HF system) water at 5.3 to use as my feed water and leave misting spray on Day 5.

Things are looking pretty good thus far (so I think, lol). Attached are pics from Day 5, I will update later this evening with pictures from today DAY 6 - any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Day 6 Update with Pics :

Noticed things are looking up upon using about 160ppm of Root66 and PH'd water of about 5.3 ~ 5.7. I noticed another set of leaves forming.....how does these plants look thus far at this stage in the growth @ Day 6? MY RO Water is running 6.2 PH & 30 PPM.

It's Day 7 now, the plants in the root riot cubes have several smaller roots going through the medium. The only thing is that the plants are not taking off as fast as the other 2 I have in solo cups with coco soiless mix. I am still watering with PH 5.3 - 5.7 and with 160PPM Root 66 solution. I think it may be time to plant them into 5 gal container with hydroton clay and then put in my air stone and fill with water and get more lights.

Any suggestions? :-?

Back with update:

I now have 3 of them planted into 5 gal containers: ph'd the water to 5.3~ running 200-210ppm with some voodoo juice, no shock, and some root 66 - followed up with a lil foliar spray of Dark Energy - man this shit smells HORRIBLE....I LOVE IT... :hump:

I went and got a light upgrade - 8x T5 HO! 16,000 LUMENS!!

Guess this Grow Journal will be for my own sake.....this rollitup place is pretty limited as I have experienced thus far..... if anyone cares to help along with this that would be kool!

Well the plants are still ALIVE!....lol. I see some new growth after planting them into the 5gal bucket. I am off to get some more goodies.....need to get a 1/4" check valve and a few T's so my water can't back up into my air pump if the power were to go out!

I checked the PH in the res this morning and it went from about a 5.3ish to 6.0 overnight. So I adjusted the PH to 5.4ish.

Res temps are hanging right around 72 degrees.....I dropped in another 8" air stone in one of the 5gal buckets, so it has 2x 8" air stones rockin! Gonna get a larger air pump with 8 connectors so I can rock 2x 8" air stones in all 6 - 5gal buckets!

Gonna add 3 more ladies (hopefully) to the line up in 5gal buckets.

So total will be 6 bubbleponic's! - I sprayed the leaves with some diluted Root 66 and Dark Energy this morning - ppm about 300 ph'd to about 5.5.

Will update with pics when I get back from grabbing some more gear! :hump:

Update: Things are lookin pretty swell.....the widow is takin off! and the lsd is as well! The LSD from Barney's Farm has some real narrow leaves on it.....but grows like a champ...and its roots haven't met the res water as of yet...nor has the widow. The Tangerine Dream is a real finicky little shit....not a whole lot of growth at all in comparison...I guess I should have put it into coco when I did the other 2..... live and learn! hopefully it takes off! :hump:

The other 3 plants I had in the root riot until today really showing signs of stress I think...

.... I should have put them into coco as well.......ugggg! I transplanted them into coco and solo cups and watered real well & drained it. So crossing fingers on those as well...got some pics for all to see.

If the other 3 in the solo cups make it, I plan on putting them into 5 gal buckets to join the other 3.

Update: The Tangerine Dream is going SLOOOOOOOOOOW.......but will just have to wait and see....hopefully she gets a growth spurt!

The WW and LSD is taking off real well....lots of new growth! I am really pleased with the large T5 HO setup I purchased.

The other 3 plants, 2 WW and 1 Pineapple Express in the solo cups with coco seem to be doing ok....noticed the stems were changing back to a lighter green color.....not worried though....they will tell me what they lack...lol

Here is an update of the LSD and the WW that r in the bubbleponics system.

I will post updates again later tonight on all the 6 plants.....any feedback would be great! :clap:

Day 9 Update: I made up some light Dark Energy foliar spray - 3 or 4 small drops into a 1/2 liter of water. Just enough.....shit smells BADDDDD!! :twisted:

I will post new pics tomorrow afternoon/evening as nothing new to report really. Other than that they are soaking up some T5 rays!

Day 10 Update: A lot was going on today and have some eye candy to post - along with some more babies planted!

Here we go: I got another grow cabinet put together today to setup a top cloner/veg starting area.

Second stage on the bottom I have a nice flowering room. -Pics will be posted

The LSD and WW have show some nice new growth......the Tangerine Dream is still hanging tough....hopefully when her roots touch the tasty water beneath her she will take off!

Update on the other 3: 2xWW & 1xPineapple Express - showing signs of real stress but gonna have to wait them out - pics showing their stressed out selfs...lol.

I also have some more seeds germinating: 2x WW, 3xLSD, 2x Tangerine Dream, & 1 Dinafem Moby Dick ...... put them into Rockwool ph'd to 5.7 and have them in 1" net pot on top of a heat mat with dome over the top of it.....will see how well this works out. After they germ then I plan on putting them into the new grow cabinet - inside the cloner/seedling room which has a 2gal res with 2 8in air stones - let them get some good roots then place the 1" net cups into a larger 3" cups for the flowering part of the cab under a 250watt dim-able MH - powered by lumatek's new ballast...super lumens... I will introduce CO2 inside the grow cabinet - got a 20lb tank - with timers, regulator, etc. I plan on putting just 4 of them inside of it, has true bubbleponics, and the other 4, I will plant into coco coir inside 3 gal pots and feed them myself.

Whew lot to update! Any feedback with the above would be greatly appreciated.

Update: Here are shots of the WW, LSD, & TD in the 5gal buckets -

LSD & WW seem to thrive in their environment--- growing steady! The TD is stunted but I checked her roots in the root riot cube and I observed some real nice healthy roots - and I then placed them directly over the hydroton clay where the water level is just mm away from the new roots....soon as she gets her root (feet wet) off she goes I am keepin my fingers crossed! :blsmoke:

The other 3 in the solo cups are going UBBBBER slow......shocked the shit out of them...lol if they do make it, shit they are one bad motha! I will hang tough with them as long as they stay upright in the solo cup! I got pics to show of them......tell me what you think....I just PH water them @ 5.4ish @ 17ppm (my own RO water!).

Still waiting on my other 8 to pop out of the rock wool - soon as they do 4 of them will go into the new grow cabinet and the other 4 will go into solo cups with canna coco.

When it gets close to flowering time I am gonna rock some CO2 for enrichment! Got a 20lb bottle ready to go with a regulator and controller from: https://www.greenair.com/page/cdmc-6-information.html - this should be pretty nice when I get them into flower!

Day 14 Update: :leaf:

Started WK#1 of Veg on all plants @ 300ppm @ 5.5PH. This is Day 2 of WK#1. I have hand watered nutrients to all plants - until their roots get to the reservoir of the 5gal buckets. I will transplant the other 3 in the solo cups this weekend to their final resting place which will be in 3gal containers.

The other 3 in the solo cups are pulling through!! Amazing......tough little bastards!

I have germinated new seeds and have pics of them as well.

I plan on getting a SUN HUT SILVER XXL 4 X 8, this weekend - along with a 1,000 watt Badass Dimmable Digital Ballast and 8" Melon Head reflector with inline fan - :-P

It's a little after midnight but wanted to post some more pics of my grow. I have changed some things up a little in my grow room. Notice a 4x8x8 tent - loving it! MelonHead reflector with cool tube - very nice - badass ballast 1KW w/Red Diamond Badass Bulb - Super RED! inline 8" turbine - insulated duct - list goes on.....so back to the grow update:

Here are the latest pics on Day 16.....still Week #1 Day 5 of veg....roots haven't made it to the 5gal reservoir's as of yet!! But when they do.....I expect them to take off! I have been feeding them every other day with measured out Nutrients : light feeding schedule of about 350ppm of Sensi Grow A/B, Voodoo Juice, and a little B52 foliar spray for WEEK 1. I water with SensiCal Grow it's a Calcium/Magnesium additive since I am using RO water @ 5.5PH. So I am feeding, watering, feeding, watering, etc.

*Week 2 - I will increase the base nutrients to about 650ppm - :hump:

I am doing the same thing for the other plants in the 3 solo cups, they have taken off quite well under a 250watt MH light I got in my other grow cabinet.

Check out the pics and tell me what you think about the plants growth and structure - I have been mainly using the T5 HO 8lamp setup - as pictured in the grow tent - the other 3 plants in the solo cup I had to put in the grow cabinet to catch up to the other plants.

The 3 plants in the solo cup will be transplanted into 3gal white buckets with hydroton clay and setup just like the 5gal buckets. After week 4 of veg I plan on putting them in the flowering room of my grow tent under the 8" MelonHead reflector with the badass bulb/ballast starting out at 500watt increasing to 1,000watt over the next 8 weeks.

The Tangerine Dream is starting to take off!

They grow pretty fast in the coco......check out the pics of mine in the solo cups - look at the progress of them in the grow journal - I am bout to transplant them into 3gal containers tomorrow. They should take off as they are on the same schedule as the ones in the 5gal buckets - WK1 Day 5. Gonna feed all of them Nutrients tomorrow so watch for new growth in a couple days!

Update on some changes in the grow setup: I have a dwc/bubbleponic/aeroponic/top drip system online in my grow cabinet - have transplanted 2x White Widow's & 1x Pineapple Express (feminized). Started WK#2 Day 1 - Nutrients: Sensi Grow A/B, Voodoo Juice, & B52 - PPM 587 & PH 5.3 Water Temp: 68.7 - rockin steady! Look at pics:

Transplanted 6 into Solo Cups with Canna Coco: 2x Tangerine Dream, 1x White Widow, 1x Moby Dick, 2xLSD (FEM) "Barney's Farm" - used some Clonex Solution for seedlings to give them a boost - under a single -T5 HO. Look at pics:

Will update the progress on the 3 other plants in the 5gal buckets as they showed ROOTS towards the bottom of the mesh pot! Should start to see some wicked growth as I have them under 16,000 lumen's of T5 HO sunshine! Will post pics a little later this evening!

Hey there widow. Yeah man, my Tangerine Dreams were kinda slow through the seedling process as well but they have really taken off during the past couple of weeks. Actually, the one of them is now the largest plant in my garden bypassing the Vanilla Kush that was leading the pack from the start.

As far as advice, I can only say be sure to take TLC with them but don't overbear them. I don't have any hydroponic experience so you're already more knowledgeable about that than me. I'm subbing to your grow and wish you the best of luck, they are looking great so far bro.

man if you think its addicting now just wait until you get some flowering going!
Im on my first grow as well, If theres any decent advice i could give ya, its this - whenever you run into a problem (nutrient deficiency/overdose for example) don't get freaked out the baby isnt going to die over night, just research what the problem is, flush your soil, let it dry out then come in with the nutes again at adjusted doses. Trust me i know how it is with your first one, its like having a new kid..alot of the time we do more worrying about the plants than we really should. They are tough and hardy afterall
