First time grow.. No idea whats wrong?

Ive looked on other threads and cant find out what it is. First off my plants are 3 weeks old and they have brown spots on the leaves and they also curl down and the stems that go to the leaves with the spots are purple? Its a cheap grow. just using cfl's and miracle gro organic potting soil (no hydroponic stores near me) and no nutes..

Sounds like you drowned them or they got cold (curved leaves), which led to stress (purple leave stems, though not always a prob) and probably nute deficiency (brown spots). Since you didn't mention you PH, I'm guessing that has something to do with it a well.

I picked up an electric ph meter from home depot (did not have a digital) and the ph is about 7. the ph should be about 5.8 correct?

7 should be fine. I run my soil at 6.5 though. Post up a pic if you can. Also, I'm running two strains that just naturally have some purple stems so it could be a problem, or normal... Hard to tell

well i went out and bought some organic soil acidifier to see if that makes a difference. but i decided to start over so i can monitor it from the start and not have so many problems

Your best bet is too try to revive that in the process of starting new, it will teach you alot, I gaurantee it.

I hear ya I've scrapped a few myself..but the 2 I kept taught me alot and I'm a n00b so I needed it..lol..

here look at this..crispy nute burn..

and after a week of figuring it out...

and they helped me save this 1..
