DeweY Thanks, me too!
kingdick Will do. Good to have you along!
HERBAL ADDICT +rep! You're right, planning to reveg is a little absurd. I'm going to take clones as soon as I can, and work towards establishing mothers and a separate flower room for clones. I saw your comments on kingdick's thread about watering...how damp should I be keeping my seedlings? Should I let them dry out, ever, to stimulate root growth?

Now that my plants have finally been born, I've given them ladies names:

Abby

Beatrice

Carol

Diane

Edna

Francine

I had one bulb on overnight, but I just put the outer two on so the seedlings get even coverage.

no yours are to young to let soil get dry,, soon as u get a couple ov 3point leafs start letting them go a bit longer without water, bit longet at a time ,for now keep the soil dark,,, moist,,damp not soaked,, as long as the soil is dark thers still moisture that the plant easily gets while getting co2 at the same time..

more water in the pot= less co2 in the pot

cheers 4da rep

kawabunga look at my little update 22inch tall and still gunna veg for another 6 weeks,,
and they only in small pots,,
inside the pot is basicly root ,,
every square cm is packed with roots,,

Those look like soft white CFL's. You really want the daylight spectrum, and in the biggest wattage you can find. Go to the indoor grow section, and subforum CFL's, it says that you should have your CFL as close as an inch from the plant. Yours look like theyre stretching, and that could be from the wrong spectrum or the proximity. Otherwise, not bad.

they aint stretching they only just sprouted,,
they are warm white until he gets his 6500k ,
and where does it say u should have a bulb an inch from a 2day old seedling,
(in the how to stress and kill a seedling handbook ) lol..
i use the biggest cfls available , and unless u have decent air flow then 1 inch away makes the leafes transpire and bleaches clorophyl,

Proper update w/pics coming soon. I wrote a huge and awesome reply, and then my webtubes got clogged and I lost it. Now I'm not in the mood to rewrite it. Maybe later today, definitely tomorrow!

HERBAL ADDICT Congrats on your bush! Are those bud-sites I see?

bugonawire and growman3666 you are correct, those bulbs are wrong. I've just put in four 5500K CFLs, and kept two of my 2700K CFLs.

djcrane Thanks! good luck on your grow! It seems the right thing to do, giving them girls names. I don't wanna just call them "this plant" and "that plant", and I've read threads where ppl just call them by letters, which I think gets a little confusing. And I definitely don't want to call them by boys names. There can be only one set of balls in my grow room, and they belong to me .

Whew! Sorry 'bout the long break. When I lost my last post, it cheezed me off so much I didn't want to try again. I tend to spend a long time on my posts, and it sucked to lose all that work.

No pics this time, but little has changed.

Here's what's up:

1 I'm paper-towel-germing legit seeds (lupine, zinnia, chinese lantern)
So far, two germed zinnias have been planted in peat

2 The very first seed I ever planted actually sprouted, and has been working its way towards the light. It's got its two cotyledons and only two true leaves (despite being over two weeks old...) and a seven inch stem. I don't have much hope for it, but I've given it some water, buried most of the stem, and it's closer to the light. Her name is Helga, and she is a fighter!

3 One of my sprouts, Abby, had started to lean wierdly. Her stem is way longer than her sisters, which are standing nicely, but her leaves looked fine.

4 Abby grew a mushroom! Oh noes! I guess it was because temps got to 100ish during a recent heatwave. The mushroom was scraped out, along with a chunk of MG underneath it, so hopefully that's done. Maybe the mycelium is eating Abby's roots.
She's been semi-quarantined.

5. I'm trying out a cloning scheme with a couple basil cuttings and a pansy cutting. I've got them in a tall rubbermaid container with perlite and MG transplant solution (4-12-4, I think). Cuttings were razor'd up on the bottom, dipped in Rootone rooting hormone, and put into the cloner. So far, no roots (3 or 4 days), but the area that was dipped is kinda brown looking. The cuttings look super healthy, like vibrant green and full.

6 I FINALLY got proper bulbs! I also found y-sockets at Home De Pot, so I've now got four 5500K CFLs (They didn't have 6500...) and two 2700K CFLs over my girls. Hopefully this stops the seedlings from stretching, which they were kinda doing.

Hello O,

I am glad you posted again, i was worried after that crash you woulden't, i understand how frustrating that could be. I can't wait till you throw up some more pics.

Also, where did you get you"legit" seeds? online? If so which site? though i guess you could have just gotten them from a friend.

I had the same issue at the beginning of my grow in relation to mushrooms, afew grew and i had a attack of mould, i ripped out the mushrooms, sprayed some diluted H2O2 on the mould, and got those temps down as soon as i could. Though by the sounds of what happened to you it was a one time spike in temp?

Anyway, i Don;t mean to ramble on, just wanted to show support to your grow, and can't wait to see pics!

dj crane lol by "legit" seeds I just mean seeds I bought at a normal garden center. They're flowers for my wife! Maybe I should sprinkle some h2o2 on my soil to prevent recurrence (I don't have much control on temps  ). what concentration did you use?

HERBAL ADDICT I saw your post about the yellowing leaves. From what I've read, that's to be expected. What have you decided to do?

weedaweedaweed my temps vary badly. lowest they ever got was 60F. When it's hot outside, the entire floor of my house where the grow area is gets to around 100F. We use that floor for storage, mostly, so we don't usually notice, but now I'm growing friggin shrooms instead of pot

growman3666 awesome new pics on your thread! You mention that you're using perlite, molasses, and FF nutes...are you growing in straight perlite, or is there some soil/verm mixed in?

So, my plants seem to like their new lights, except another one fell over today. I guess I stretched 'em with those low color temp CFLs.

Should I put supports on the fallen plants, or just let em do their thing? They've turned their leaves to face the light, but they sort of look like they've been LST'd.

I'm gonna go ahead and support them against a pencil or something. It can't be good for them to be horizontal like this.

Pics tomorrow! Promise!

YELLOWING LEAFS WAS EXACLY WOT I THOUT IT WAS,,
FIXED IT STRAIT AWAY WITH SOME TOP QUALITY GANJ SOIL,new pots,
AND FULL NUTES,,
honestly some people on here make u think that your problem is worse than it is,, ppl say add this add that, when a good bottle ov nutriants has it all,,i was simply under feeding, better safe than sorry,
,, bumped up the nitrogen and some quality soil and bigg ass pots, fixed lol

people who need to add this and that basicly need better nutes,,lol,,

and yes wudnt have a problem with yellow leafs if i was flowering but as im vegging i want all leafs pukka nice and green,, like i said b4 my other grows i didnt loose or get a yellow leaf until late flowering
the more green leafs my plant takes in to flower the more stored food and energy they take with them

if all is done right a plant shouldnt shed a leaf until late flower,,
