You want all the sun you can get....some will say make sure ur plants in the sun from noon ta 3...but I always...always always always make sure I get morning light. ..if you can get it to a spot that get 10 hrs that's pretty good....maybe watch a spot that gets me sun that another..idk...that or trim up the area...another thing you could do since it only in a five gal buck it just put something g under it or move it by hand throughout the day...that's ur best bet

I wish I had that kinda time. Between work, school, family...I barely have time for my indoor girls.

I guess I'm gonna have to play with this one.

I'm interested in growing outdoors in fabric pots that sit on ponds that have dried up. Call them bogs if you want. I bought root pouch fabric bags in green. I have 5 gallon as well as ten gallon bags to try and I've already hiked out the coco blocks. Not sure how to use the coco entirely. Should I put some in my mix inside the bag and put some underneath the bag? Maybe put some of it externally around the bag so it goes around the bag sort of burrying it a bit. Use of a trellis would be awesome if I could hike one in. I've tried LST once and it is amazing on how much you'll yield and how the bud will look. Bring on the summer!

Ok, so would it be easier to just go with clones? I feel like it's already pretty late in the season and the Temps are getting into the 90's now. If I started some seeds it would be about another month till they are outside...maybe longer in order to be sewed before hand.

So how long would I need to keep these girls inside before harding off to go in the great outdoors? How do you harden off correctly?

if you start seeds in the end of april you can just toss em out in a very shaded area for a few days, and gradually move them into the sun. they should be good in sac as far as vegging/re veg. because seeds won't flower until they are mature enough

If you are sure you want smart pots, with the drought you guys are having, you might want to sink them down to ground level. Even with hard sided pots {which can be bought used from nurseries for cheap}, it's not a bad idea to sink them. More stable and helps with stealth and water retention.

I would love 7 or 8 hours of direct sun a day. My poor plants are hiding out behind holly trees, just hoping for a stray ray. And the when it's safe to set them out depends on your length of day. I have heard 13 1/2 hours is safe. What I can't get a firm answer on is if that means length of day, or length of visible light. Which ever one it is, about half of the 20 odd plants I have out are in early flower right now. So I know when is too early.

You harden an inside plant off by putting it outside in the shade, then day by day, easing it into the sunlight. According to the light used, it can take over a week.

Good luck,

Larry

Clones vs Seeds:

Clones are quick, but unless you know the folks doing the cuts, there is no way to know if you are getting the good cut or not. As anyone who has made clones know, all clones are not created equal. If you are getting a good, fresh cut from the pheno you want, that's great. But if you popped some seeds and took a few cuts yourself, you would know just what you had. Or just do both. Pop a few seeds, and buy some cuts. And it's early still.

Update: enjoying the rain!

Ok, so I bought my soil mix today. The outdoor vet at the grow store got me a good lineup.

1: happy frog (2.0 cft)
1: ocean forest (1.5cft)
1: ancient forest (0.5 cft)
1: roots organic coco palms (1.5 cft)
1: perlite.

Picking up clones from an outside source. Will keep you guys updated!

Thanks for the support this far!

Update 2: got the girls this morning from a great guy in the community ( he wants the strain kept on the DL).

Also got the buckets filled and ready to go. Might put the girls in tonight or wait till tomorrow morning.
