First Timer- PC CFL grow

11/8 One month since seed

Update: I left for a business trip and had a power failure for 5 days. Plants were dark and temps got to about 50. All are still alive and am on 4 days after returning to 18/6 on the pics. I am up to a total of 8- 23 watt daylight CFLs and they really seemed to like the light. I have noticed growth daily on them. I have added two Autos- now 10 days from seed- Somango and Sweet tooth. I thought I would try the autos to see how they are.

Looking good. Id go 2" away for how small they are. You should also look into a way to reflect those lights though. All the light coming off the top of those bulbs is being wasted to nothingness. When growing with cfls, you need to use EVERY bit of lumen that tgose things put off. Keep it up! ¦)

There is no rason for them not to be on 24/0 with CFL's that just my opinion...

Ya 24/0 is the way i did it until about 1 month, then i slowly worked it to 12/12 over peiod of like 3 or so weeks. Im in my second week of flower and she just turned 2 months old. But before, i grew a plant from seed to start of flower on 24/0. That one ended up being male though. but that ant LOVED the full-time light.

Have been reading 24/0, 18/6 or 12/12 (From Seed). Trying to find out what will "work" for me. I may switch to 24/0 for three weeks and then switch to 12/12. This is a lot of work for an old stoner. lol

Ya the indoor deal takes up a lot more time... But its sooo worth it. ¦)

Ok- Day 36


Had some setbacks with the loss of power and heat, but on the rebound.
I got rid of the miracle grow soil and replaced it with Fox Farm organic soil. Also picked up some Fox Farm Grow Big.
The fallen angel has a purple hue to the leaves but don't know if it is bad or normal. Has recovered well and has grown although at a slow pace. I switched to 24/0 for three days and now am at 20/4 which made them wake up.
My Autos have been growing better than my Fallen Angels. They don't seem to have been affected by the stress. Autos are 15 days old
Lowering the lights to about 2-4 inches and a total of 19200 lumens in a small space. I have 8 -5000k bulbs and 4 2700's in the setup for my vegging stage. I will switch to all 2700's for flowering.

Glad to see they are bouncing back. Keep up the work. They will go back to normal afyer a little while.

Day 39-- and the Auto Sweet tooth I planted as a test is the best performer. The Fallen angels are in slow motion and are still only 2-3 inches high.

I am re-evaluating the grow. I have been talking to and learned from another local grower with a lot more experience.

Currently am using 3 liter containers with soil and will use till harvested. The idea was 8 week veg and 8 week flower, but at 7+ weeks already for the angel at midget size, I am doing something wrong.

Going to be ditching the CFL's as the heat has been an issue- can go up to 85 day and down to 60 night.

I ordered and am trying a Sun System HPS 150. Temps are stable at 72 day and 60 night for it's first day. Going to use it for 12/12 till harvest.

Have read and seen a lot of small 12/12 grows with 1 liter pots that have a good yield. I am trying to simplify and am probably over thinking the whole thing. I check the plants about 5 times a day looking for growth- kind of like checking the refrigerator thinking food is going to magically appear.

On a good note, the colors of all of the leaves have gotten nicer since using the Grow Big. The slight yellowing is gone and looks nothing but green.

HPS is on day number three and on 12/12. In three days, the Fallen angel has doubled in size and can't believe they are the same plants. I thought that this one was screwed and stunted. I was doing something wrong before.

Damn dude its coming along huh? I haven't checked in for a while so I can have a view like this. I like it man keep it up. Good job on the recovery.

I had thw same problem with stunted plants coulnd figure out the issue either im doing my second grow now plants on theyre 4th day and doing fine now i belive the issue was not enough light for my closet so i made a cabinet and i transplanted my plants to bigger pots aside from a heat problem i just fixed everything looks good.

Day 45 since start. There are three great performers and two special needs girls.


6 days on HPS. These are the same plant in 6 days. I wouldn't believe it if I didn't see it.

Day 55- Has been going Swimmingly. I have been shocked how well it has taken to the Fox Tiger Bloom. Here are samples.

Day 58- Update- I have gotten ahead of myself and now am having space issues. Failure on my part and not having patience, but at least I am aware of it. I have moved from the PC case to a home made grow space- not because the PC case wasn't working, but I think that 2-4 is the max for the size of the case if going 12/12. I have had much better results from 12/12 then 18/6. They have responded perfectly to the $80 HPS light. Although CFL are easy: the heat, size and growth rate was not satisfactory- IMHO. I installed a 4 inch vent fan venting outside cause I walked into the house and was greeted with a nose full of sweet goodness. Made be shed a tear, It was beautiful. I feel bad for changing CFL grow, but I am looking for what works for me. YMMV. I'll keep updating as this is my first grow regardless. Chime in, let me know. God bless and stay hi.

Day 60- Got everything dialed in and I watch these girls more than I do TV. Not many updates, feeding a cap full of FF Tiger or Grow per gallon with every watering. I do alternate with nutes, for no reason other that to see the results. I am sold on 12/12.

The pics are of an SOS Auto Sweet Tooth which is so far the winner of the grow.

Day 70- Running out of room. They are growing well. Buds forming nice. There is only one Auto Somango that is groing at a slower pace and is only about 10 inches high.

I should have done this years ago.

Day 77:

The nicest of the grow- Auto Sweet Tooth. All others are still going well. This is one of the Fallen angels which has grown taller than 24 inches. I am still having a lot of fun. Can't wait for the first smoke, I'm thinking the middle of Jan the sweet tooth should be done.

Day 93: Took my First Girl that was ready.

The Auto Somango Finished First, although she was small- about 10-12 inches high. Smells strong with a sweet comfortable smell. The last two pics are of the Somango

I checked and determined that they were ready via a Jeweler's eye scope and most of the trichomes were mostly cloudy white.

Here are some pics. I will update as I harvest and the different times they are ready.

I didn't do any nutes for the past three weeks.

I plan on vaping some of this tomorrow and will include a smoke report.
