Flipping 12/12 times

So I'm three days in to 12/12 and have set my lights to be on during the day, which was a mistake because it is to hot during the day and to cold at night.

How should I go about switching the times for the lights to come on at night and turn off during the day?

Should I slowly move the start and end time up an hour every day for 12 days?

Should I leave the lights on and turn them off at the right time?

Or Should I leave the plants in extended darkness and turn on the lights at the right time?

So lets say you're lights go on at 6 am and shut off at 6 pm. When the lights go off at 6pm, simply be there to switch the settings of the timer so that they don't come on again until 6pm the following night.
