Flooded second story closet with nute water

Didn't find out until the whole res was empty. It leaked through the floor and was coming out the ceiling of the first floor by the gallon. :-? I poked a hole over the sink and another over a pan so it could drain but I'm sure there's still a bunch of moisture up there. I live in a pile of crap apartment and the ceiling has leaked from a flood before from our shower, so I'm not really too worried about any structural water damage but my room smells like fish! I'm pretty sure it's coming from the closet's carpet. Any suggestions on what I should do?

No it's dried up already. I mopped it up with like 7 towels and put fans in there to evaporate all the water, it just smells like shit now.

Get a HUGE box of baking soda and regularly apply it and vacuum it up. Febreeze will only mask the odor. Baking soda neutralizes it like a carbon filter does.

I did this with a 35gal res in an upstairs bedroom. tried drying it for a week with no luck, Smell would not go away, started to have mold problems and never fully dried out. I had to pull the carpet in that room, and the adjacent room. Big nasty 20x20 chunks of wet carpet. After that it took about 3-4 days for the wood underneath to fully dry. Im not sure how mach water is in ur floor but you might consider taking action and just pulling the carpet. you can grow without one for now, and when your done growing, just install new carpet. Its pretty easy and cheap, and it will get rid of your smell the right way.

yeahhh... I wish I had a basement to work with. I too had my entire res around 50 gallons sent to my system and no shutoff.. came home to my entire grow(6x10) in a 3 or 4 inch puddle!! luckly I had just purchased a tent, (the system and tent were both purchased at the same time.. thus I didnt know how either product would work) but anyway... the "waterproof" tray (another fabric tray that fits in the tent, was filled with water when I went to check on it WTF!!!! ran in ... and the water thank god.. was still in the tray, but the lowest part of the tray ( lowest part of floor in room.. slightly uneven floor) was leaking slowly. The carpet I had under the tent was sucking it up.. but there was still a puddle infront of the tent. Wasnt happy about the flood but SO happy that I had a tray of some sort to contain it. Now I dont fill my rez enough to over flow the system. Putting 20 gallons more than needed at the time was a waste of nuts anyway. At that point I was running around throwing every towel I had into the space to first stop the leak onto the floor and then the rest of the tent... I live in an apartment so I wasnt gunna risk damaging the floor so I went out and got a dehumidifier, closed my tent and turned it on. then continuted to try to help the thing suck the water out of the carpet somehow I took bamboo sticks and slid them under the whole system/tent/carpet to lift the carpet off the wood floor. It worked great... took the tent down the next month to move and It was not damaged at all. Lucky learning situation that I hope never happens again.
