Which would be the best plan? I am looking to do a perpetual grow and achieve 4oz per week (8oz a fortnight/1lb per month) under 2 x 600w.

I have had 6 big bud mums on veg for a month, now do I take clones, veg them for a month before flowering and flower the mums now or, take clones and veg them at the same time keep the mums as mums?

I would also take more clones then required and veg them for as long as possible (likely to be 8 weeks) - since reading someone's recent thread (veg for a week get an oz vs. veg for two months get a lb (or something like that)).

If your wanting to veg longer. You have time to take a cutting from each.Root it then 12/12 right away. You will know if there all females with in the next 2 1/2 to 3 weeks. If you have females you don't nessecaraly need mother plants.Just keep clones growing always. You'll ketch on.good luck Oregon024

Thanks, They are feminised seeds - I only buy feminised. I figure that if these mums have gotten this big in one month then the clones should do the same. I have 6 mums, but I'd take as many clones as I could - if I can get 12 rooted and growing, I'd flower the mums now, then veg 6 of the clones for one month - then flower. The other 6 clones would have had 2 months veg, so hopefully a bigger yield. That'll be 12 plants all together with minimum 4 weeks veg and under two 600watters.

Does that make practicable sense?

I say cut your clones from momma during the last week of veg, flower her, harvest her leave 2 or 3 branches with buds on them, throw the old girl back into veg for 3 - 4 months, cut more clones, flower momma, harvest her, rinse and repeat or if u have a friend just starting out pass her to him to veg and let him take clones from her in 3 months.

thats ludacris! i had some mommas that ihad for about 6 months...we are talkin like 4ft tall bushes...had 4 dif strains...all were from seed so i took about 12 clones from each (that way you still have 2nd gen clones of your from seed plant) then put the mommas into flower...i yielded a LB and a half using just 4 trees and 2k watts...granted these were some dj short genetics i was dealing with and we all know his yields with the right phenos are impecable

I have a pretty big house with loads of room to spare so I'm not too worried about space - your idea sounds interesting indeed. But what do you mean by 'harvest her leave 2 or 3 branches with buds on them' - quite literally, snip the buds off apart from 2 or three?

Also would you take the full branch of ready for reveg, or just nip the buds off and leave the rest?

Lol, I'm not gonna talk dirty to it if thats what you mean....

I have taken 9 clones to see how they go, then I will flower the mums if the clones don't die before hand.

I've just received a Gecko heat mat for the clones (30 degrees C) and the trays and fitting for Ebb and flow. I picked up some 1 metre rockwool strips to sit the plants on, but I am a bit reluctant to use them, I may raise them up out of the tray an inch or so to ensure the water doesn't get trapped between only two of the strips. Does that sound about right?

I have just checked on the clones and most of them are as saggy as an 80 years olds ball bags... What am I missing here?

Temp?
Humidity?
Light?

If you want a perpetual grow I'd keep the moms as moms so you have a sure supply. Even tho its usually pretty easy to clone it's still not 100% so I'd want a backup. FWIW I've had perpetual grow sinc '03, some of my moms are over 2 years old and live in 1 qt cups...bonsai'd. Goodluck

Loosely defined, it's keeping an adult plant at a miniature size. These are my mothers....I have 5 now but think I can easily keep 8 in here. These are ready for a haircut starting to grow into the lights. I'll post another thread on how I do it if your interested. Like ANY method on this board, this isn't necessarily THE BEST. It's just what works well for me.

Well those clones have had it. So I will give the bubbler a go soon. The gas man is coming to sign off our boiler so I will take the clones after that, I will need to pack my gear up until he buggers off.

Should I pick up a humidity dome? Or will it not be required?

I am gonna try leaving them in a glass of water for a few hours to give them a bump.

Ok, 7 out of the 9 clones have roots, now I have to decide whether I go hydro or soil..

I have 5 big bud ladies in flower - they have been in since sunday, but they are in soil.

This is a perpetual grow so I think soil will be best until I get the temps spots on.

The ladies went on to flower at approx 24 inches - and were vegging for 6 weeks.

I will put 5 more ladies on flower in one month, then another 5 a month after that (depending on the results)

The first 5 should have 4 weeks veg, then the next 5 will have 8 weeks veg.

and so on...
