I just inherited some plants that range from 12-19 inches. Can i just use a 1000W mh to keep it growing now a little talller before i force it to flower?? (worried its to much for the 12 inch ones? maybe not)Ive never worked with plants in this stage before and i just have them sitting on the ground, cuz i dont know which light to use, previously they were in a bathroom under some ceiling fl tubes. i dont know what their light cycle was previously either. is this a problem or can i just start it on a new cycle around 8 tonight and theyll adjust?

immediate help would be appreciated man. thanks guys.

they'll adjust. If you want to veg a bit longer, it is up to you. You can force flower anytime you wish. Keep an eye out for males.

You're just fine using 1,000W @ that height. That's actually the height you WANT to use it at, so that you can encourage faster veg growth, more photosynthesis within the plants, and simply allow them to reap the benefits of those extra lumens.

What you want to be careful of tho, is the distance in which you place your 1,000w from your plants. Start @ 3 ft and start moving it closer to them. If it's an uncooled hood, freestanding, you want to stay 2 ft away for heat reasons. If you cool your hoods, you can benefit from moving it closer and get some tighter, more compact internodes by placing it 1 ft away. Again, this is ONLY if you have a vortex fan/blower cooling your hoods whenever they are running.

Other than that, happy growing & best of luck!

No problem man. Glad to help! I've been there where I'm just to the point of guessing. But ya, if you get scientific with light distance/feeding/ratios (and it's not even really scientific when you think about it, just takes a tape measure, TDS meter, simple math n whatnot), and next thing you know you are growing cannabis cup quality bud. You just have to really take your craft seriously and learn every time around so that it only gets better n better.

Best of luck homes!

+rep if you have a sec ... tryin to build rep pts on here :)
