flowering question!

No, it doesn't grow faster. Slower, if anything, since the plant has to recover. But it adds bud sites so the yield generally increases. And your second question confuses me...? It's not a separate plant; that's called 'cloning' (cutting off a branch and then making it grow roots to become another plant). Topping is like Medusa: you cut off one head and it grows back two.

ok i bought a 150w mh bulb and its pretty hot. i know they are gonna be kinda hot but i didnt expect it to be that hot. my last bulb was hung 2/3 inches away from plant(flouro) i have this bulb at 1ft and a half. it was like four bucks. it looks like an off brand light i dont know if its gonna work or not. i put my hand under it where the plant would be and it feels ok so...i dont know, kinda skeeeered. here is a pic of my shatty setup. all feedback greatly appriciated. thank you

Move it two feet away until you get a thermometer (which should be ASAP)! It's one of the best and cheapest tools you can have when dealing with HID lights!! Once you have the thermometer at plant level, then you can move the light closer while monitoring the temperature. Temperature is as important as pH, and the 'hand' test is good but not good enough. That's my take on it anyway.

"Temperature: most cannabis plants will slow or cease growth when temp's get above 85F, or below 65f. Optimal lights-on temp for most strains is about 72-78F, with 5-10 degrees cooler during the dark period being a good rule of thumb."
