Flowering/Vegging/Harvest

hi guys/girls

i was wondering how do you know how long it takes your plant from seed to harvest?

and can you please tell me how many days it usually takes in each stage of its life?

any other info will be appreciated :)

thanks

Howdy mate!

Well what you're asking is kinda general, these answers depend on strain and conditions you can provide. Oh, also the setup. An indica generally takes about 2-3 months from seed to harvest (3-4 weeks vegging + 7-8 weeks flower). If you have an auto, you can get away with 2 months I think, but I haven't grown autos, so I couldn't know. About sativas, that's another story. Mine took 8 weeks so far and it looks like it needs one more, but there are strains that take 12 weeks, too. If it takes more than that, you got yourself a good mother you should re-veg and keep for clones :) This is for soil, maybe someone could provide an accurate hydro/aero setup time table.

If you have clones, it'll take you less. Subtract half of the veg time, so about 2 months I'd guess. I'll know better on my next grow :)

Figure out the strain you're using and check people feedback...others must have grown it, to get an idea on a specific strain. But usually you want to stick with 7-8 weeks in flower for indicas and 9-10 for sativas. So use that as a base schedule and calculate on times based on that. If they will need say a week more, they would be just fine with plain water, so don't worry very much about being minute-exact.

The plant will tell you itself when it's ready. You'll see continuous grow during the first 4-5 weeks of flower, then the plant takes a break and slows down the growth process for a week or 2, and then before harvest time comes, you'll see a final explosion of growth. Trichomes will be mostly cloudy by then and the orange/red pistils ratio will be of about 60-70%.

Usually it's best to keep the plant in veg until preflowers appear and/or leaves start alternating. From that point on, they can be flowered. Keeping them longer in veg will grow bigger plants, but it all depends on the time you have :) 3-4 weeks is the minimum time you should give your babies vegetating when growing from seed. You can flower them even at 2 weeks, but they won't start flowering until they're ready.

A 1 month old plant is considered a mature, ready to produce plant. Of course, assuming a normal, non-stunted growth. Training techniques also impact the veg time, so you should read up on those for a bit as well, if you want to increase your crop.
