Flushing

I had to use miracle grow performance dirt for this last grow. How would I do the flushing? Or would it be any different then just adding lots of water to get the run off

If you’re flushing because it’s finished I would just do water only until you’re done.

If you’re trying to flush out a crazy amount of nutrients then you may want to flush with multiple gallons of water.

Ok wasn’t sure. It’s ready for chopping. Heard people say to let the dirt dry completly to help it dry out faster and better. And to also harvest harvest soon after lights turn on

Lots of things you can do...

Let dirt dry.... leave them in the dark for 48 hours

At this point, majority of the ferts (usually only 3 months max) in the Miracle Grow are gone regardless.

Unless you've been adding other fertilizers/amendments, majority of the nutrients in your soil are gone.

And regardless, theres no need to flush. If you want, just withhold nutrients, and water regularly. Save you a few bucks on the last few waterings, and the plant will use up majority of what it has available to it

Something I've learned from experience is just start dropping your PPMs towards the end and water/feed like normal. You will notice (and I have records on this) that as they get mature, they will drink less and less. I have strains that in week 6 would drink every 3-4 days, and now in week 9 they only want to drink every 6-7 days. When we know we are ready to chop, we will water/weak feed the day before,( this will slow down your dry time, which is good.. like 12-14 days dry time), cut the lights, and choppy choppy. We also like to take the top colas, and let the secondaries cook for another 2 weeks.. this is why you don't to cut out the nutes totally. Those secondaries need some food to finish up/dense up. You'd be surprised how much more weight you can get with another 2 weeks on the secondaries.

I have been preaching that for a long time. Whats crazy is how suddenly they will slow down, it's like overnite. On many strains it happens around day 50 - 52 of 12/12. They also suddenly speed up on drink around day 20 of 12/12. These are signs that everything is going according to plan.

That's the imortance of keeping detailed records of your grow. You can see changes in activity all in one place, and learn from those. I prob spend about 5 minutes each day taking notes of what I did, PPMs. PH reading, PAR readings, temps, RH, etc. It just makes you learn cause and effect of what you're either doing right or not.

These are not top colas... these are 2 week (almost) secondaries.... taking them tomorrow... or today, whatever time it is. They put on alot of weight compared to if we would have taken them 2 weeks ago (when we took their mains), and we watered/fed them at 625ppm today.... or yesterday, whatever time it is. Those are mains in the background of Dosi Whoa!, and Orange Kush Cake.. we will do the same with them. It takes longer to do the process, but it's well worth it. Just keep feeding till chop.

How much dark before I chop?
Up to you, and everyone has an opinion, but some do 24, some do 48 hours... some do none. Personally, I don't think it matters that much. You hear about people icing down the soil, crashing temps during the dark period... I really don't think it matters that much in final weight. And really, it would be hard to document that because you have several different plants that are going to make different weight no matter what. You would have to have 2 identical plants with the same amount of bud material and weight to compare, and that's just not realistic. If anything, it will save on the electric bill LOL
