So today I'm chilling in me lab and notice a few flying ants on the floor moving. So I kill them. Two seconds later I see even more! Kill those too! Few seconds later even more. Supposedly they're attracted to light. And they sure seem like it too. Come to find out that once a year there is an ant day when they re colonize n what not. Ne who, how can I get rid of them or cut them down drastically? Are they any harm to me plants? Thanks. Plus rep for answers.

I had that happen before at a different house.. Termites came out the day I hung up my lights. I though they were due to me.. They swarm every year once it gets warm.. They should be dying or dead by now for you.

You can mix some powdered sugar with some boric acid and sprinkle it around your window seals and the base of your walls. They will pick it up, take it back to their colony and poison all the other ants.

flying ants?? lol You mean termites?
Nope! Ants. I lived in cali and know what termites are. These are flying ants. Termed drone ants. Every year they come out to mate. But so far i havent seen anymore. Hopefully its not just a come out at night type of thing.

I herd something like that before. Some use honey and boric too. Think ill make up a concoction of the stuff and place it out side around the foundation cause they seem to have made it into the basement! Guessing theres cracks in the foundation and theyre able to come on through

Hey, those are termites and live in the wood in your house... If you are a renter, just forget about it.

The first time this happened was the first day I rigged up a new growroom.. I freaked!!
I came down in the AM and they were everywhere..
Turns out they just come out once a year and die like that..
You don't have to worry..unless you own the house.. That will require a termite man to come drill holes all round and in your house and squirt pesticide at the cost of $800 yearly..
