Flying Dutchmen Royal Orange...

Hello,

After a great looking but ultimately disasterous seedsman northern lights grow
(hermied...took forever...i cut at 10 weeks which was STILL early)...I decided I need to buck up and get a better seed in the dirt.

Well today I saw some hair action on my Flying Dutchmen Royal Orange. I was about to write her off as a boy because of
how explosive the growth was in veg. Nope, just a VERY healthy girl. (just goes to show you...you never KNOW the sex...well until you know)

Anyone else grow this strain? Any info you'd like to impart? I'm doing dirt under 250 watt mh/hps. One plant.

Got any Pic's ? :)

I was just reading up about the Royal Orange the other day , A Cross breed of Skunk #1 and a Cali Orange with a nice mid to high THC % , Pretty hard to go wrong with it and can take huge amounts of nutes in the flower stages without any burn , Mould resistent for the most part and has a pretty high yeild , I would like to have a wiff of the aroma so i might do one in the near future .

Current grow is Flying Dutchman Pot Of Gold ..and i have to say ... i fkn love it :)

Good Luck :)

Thanks for replying...yeah I'm luvin' Flying Dutchmen now too.

Here is what I'm going to call day one of flower. (I now see hairs at two nodes) The plant is 14" tall from soil to top...and maybe 18" across.

This is ALMOST a one month old plant!!! I'm quite frankly blown away at the growth. I'm not a hardcore grower or anything...but I have grown: 1 bagseed, several crops of Nirvana AK-48, 1 DNA lemon skunk, 1 Dutch Passion Brainstorm and 1 Seedsman Northern Lights. This Royal Orange is the best vegger of that bunch. If she flowers like she vegs...oh my...fun times indeed!

I think that it enjoys nutes...I mix blood meal into my dirt...don't exactly measure...and it tends to get a little "rich" for some strains...but this? Oh she LOVES it. I "flip" it to flower not just with the lights...
but also by giving a healthy dose of pure P guano meal. Then from that point I stick with MG 15-30-15 and a bit of molasses. As I said earlier...I'm a tad heavy handed with nutes...i cut back if the plant shows
it's had too much of course...but RO is digging what I'm laying down.

As to how big she'll get? No clue at all. This is my first R.O. I'm guessing she'll get pretty bushy as I didn't even top her...and she's bushing nicely on her own.

10 days later update. Explosive growth continues. No pic today unfortunately. She now measures a whopping 27" tall and a good 36" wide. That is impressive in my book for a 10 day span. It's a long flower time on RO...
and it shows...still just have a few small white "explosions" of budlets starting to form.

FYI I did not top her...but I just tied her down last night as the height was being a bit problematic as there is so much horizontal mass to light up as well.
I did a close to 90 degree tie down...she already is pointing back up and the bend didn't take near enough height off her I'm afraid.

Day 14. WITH PICS! :)

First off let me say...Flying Dutchmen Royal Orange is da bomb! Heavy on the nutes...not a trace of deficiencies or any issues whatsoever. Using plain ole tap water...not even letting it sit out a day first. This is the plant I'd recommend whole heartedly to n00bs. Low maintainence as can be...drinks fast...loves everything. Slight skunky odor creeping in...but really only when disturbed. Not an "issue" imo.

Roughly 29" tall and 30" wide. Not topped...but did LST the plant for a few days but went a bit severe so i cut the cord...so without the crik and slight bend you might want to add a few inches to height.

Cannot wait until she starts filling out all those lovely bud sites.

Feel free to chime in peoples! This isn't a high tooting fancy pants grow report...you can say boo whenever. :)

Here is day 22 of flower...things are moving along nicely considering she's a 70 day flower strain. Height maxed out at 33" tall. About the same width as height.

Odor is minimal. Very healthy...likes a good bit of nutrients and she gets them with water every third day now.

Jeez...why no love for the RO? Granted it's a 70 day flower which is a pain in the arse...but otherwise she's been pretty solid imho.

Well a week later and slowly the budsites are filling in. Here are a few day 29 pics. I am guessing that another 7 days and I'll be around the flower's
half-life. She REALLY not only likes heavy nutes...but flat out needs them. I take a feeding off? Leaves start to yellow the day after she expects to get fed.
Yeah she's THAT quick to notice. I'm using more mg 15-30-15 than I've ever used on a plant before (albeit only slightly more) and no burn...and well
I already told you what happens if I skip a meal.

All comments/questions welcome. Hell barge in with a completely unrelated topic. It's getting lonely up in here.

have you considered checking agent orange from tga genetics?
Yeah...but at the time the banks that i use were out. I've "considered" hundreds of strains before buying each time though. :)

Next strain that I get I'd like a shorter flower time on. I never use up entire packs before moving on it seems. Still have AK48, Brainstorm and now will
have Royal Orange not yet used up. As far as TGA...Vortex was looking good to me. Now that attitude sells them in 5 packs...well that's right up my alley.

I've looked at this strain many times over the past few years, but never pulled the trigger at check-out time. Seems like I've been missing out on a good one- does it smell fruity?

it's 1/2 way through flower...it had a mild skunk smell...that is fading now and it's smelling "sweeter" still a bit skunky though. No undeniable orange smell yet.

Great strain though...it's just starting to frost up. :)

Day 40...(will post pics on day 42) to answer the previous poster's question...NOW it's starting to smell like orange. Also getting very frosty too.
This is my 2nd "fruit" skunk grow. (did DNA lemon skunk previously) For all those looking for a herb that won't stink you out of house n home...
maybe northern lights aren't your bag...I now feel safe in recommending fruity skunks. Both the lemon and this orange had light skunk smells early in flower...and got less skunky and more
fruity as flower wore on. Plus the hybrid highs are just about perfect. I now have tried strains that are heavy on the sativa...and of course had many that were heavy on the indica...right
down the middle is where it's at imo.

Well Merry Christmas Eve all. Here are pics from day 42. Buds are starting to plump up...and even though you cannot see it due to my camera phone pic quality...they are frosting up nicely as well.

Those are happy girls- looks like some tasty treats this winter! I got a single seed Agent Orange, but it turned out male- bet they'd be a good cross.
