Thatz cool eDude... The main dudes name was Patrick... It was a legal collective, that apparently wasnt so legal after I wired em all up and shit... Glad I did leave after I heard thru the massive grapevine that he had gone down... Hated to hear it tbh... Yeah, I'd give ya about a five or six, anyways... I didn't spend but a few weeks out there, so I didn't go to all the cool ass shit my other buddies told me all about, like seeing Yonder Mtn String Band and many others up at some huge concert/gathering around the bay... I did quite enjoy myself each day and night, thanks in part to The Greenway Compassionate Club, and didn't haveta rely solely on these damned opoide medicines I haveta take... I used to be kinda transfixed by that verse and what itz about... Real weird shit... Btw, I love the avatar... I'm in the electrical union, so I'm into that kinda shit... I have a Bonghitter's Local 420 t-shirt I wear on certain jobs...lol...

Lol, you got played.

Dont buy Advanced Nutrients, you paid $15+ for a bottle of 0-0-1 fert.
Old thread but I hope you have learned something by now.
He and no one else got played.
It has a secrect ingredient. It's chitosan. Yes, chitosan increases oil, terpines, and trichomes. That's why you bud look like bud and not a Christmas tree. So keep trying for the gold without knowing the secrets to getting there.

Mmmm,,,,maybe. Not like you think..

I find increasing S works far better, and your not overpaying for piss water! The concentrations of chitosan are low at best.....How about you simply use crab shell meal in your soil? You'll get more in the plant..

Even by foliar application, it'll take time to actually work. Nothing like is said in the post - overnight my ass! The results don't point to it being worth the cost!

You want real results.....Mg sulfate and potassium sulfate solutions will do far better then any use of chitosan.....Do you know how the chitosan works?

It's just another case of overblown claims by a profit mongering company. Marketing to uninformed, uneducated buyers....
Does it work, yes but, not enough to pay for the product at that price!

The glaring problem with this thread is the proven to be BS report on keeping a plant in darkness for 3 days to increase THC by as much as 30% right before harvesting!

That is total BS.....

I respect your time in growing....But disagree with opinion on AN Bud factor X!
Other things work better! FAR better....

I keep buying more Bud Factor X, every time I run out I feel like my plants are missing something. Healthy and green, but not quite right. I don't mind paying for the stuff, what else would I spend money on? And I know you can get chitosan from other sources, but I'd rather not DIY anything.

LOL, That's your mind feeling that. Not the plant......

Well, You pay for Factor X (sigh).....

Mg sulfate solution made by the profit mongers - Botanicare Sweet Raw and G&H Floranector (don't bother with the one's labeled as pineapple - grape - berry etc. They all contain the same thing, in the same amounts - see, the profit mongers have it in for you - coming and going!)

As for the potassium sulfate - Terpinator would do.....Resinator has P in it and I would not suggest adding that much P to your bloom nutes like that.....I don't think it's K sulfate in that anyway.....

Yeah, I have DIY versions of each. They work, and work well! Just as good as the "pay through the nose" versions!
But hey, Your choice

BTW....You can simply buy a pound of K sulfate on Amazon and add a 1/4 tsp at feedings in bloom, also.....It'll spank that Factor X in results!

But chitosan isn't potassium? I doubt the trichome coverage increase is due to 0-0-1 npk.

i put a tsp of sul-po-mag in a pint jar, fill it with ro water, give it 4 or 5 days to dissolve, and use it as a stock solution when i feed flowering plants, at 100ppm of the total. i start feeding jack's bloom booster about the third week of flower, (10-30-20) with the sul-po-mag, which makes it about 10-30-50, with plenty of sulfur and mag. i'm liking the results a lot, nice fat buds that are dense and sticky. and a 5 lb bag of it is about 15 bucks...that's about 5 years worth for 15 buck.

as fas as trich production, the only thing i've found that works reliably is exposure to uv lighting. i've tried several bottled products, and they've all been horseshit. a 10 dollar reptile light will get you more trichs than a gallon of the most expensive shit in a jug

No....Chitosan is a chemical found in crab shell and bug shell (chitin).....There's the other thing to ad to soil that feeds chitosan to the plant....insect frass... Good stuff!

Chitosan or chitin. "Irritates" the plant into producing a bit more trich's....

Interesting to be sure. I don't care for that kind of P content....But hey, if it works for you!

Far, far more effective ways to supply UVB......Repti bulbs do work but, have a limited effective distance of around 18 inch's.....Grow big plants - nice to use a stronger source......You are right on the UV thing though.

Still, in years of trying chemical assistance...... S is magic shit man! MAGIC! K2SO4 makes for a more lemon or citrus nose and taste. MgSO4 makes for a more berry/grape nose and taste...The only way I have ever found to influence actual "taste" to those ends..

i'm not sure if its the sul-po mag's influence or not, but i've got a incredible bulk and a wwXbb going right now and they both have a strong pine smell

I didn't want to come off saying it's magic, and defiantly like those stupid claims like keeping a plant in darkness does anything but put it in darkness. (That is a myth)
I do know how Chitosan works. Many use it as a foliar or in soil, or in hydro. All for the same reasons.
I use it for a 2 fold reason. 1st is for the SAR affect. 2nd is for systemic defense (powdery mildew defense) which no amount of Sulfur will do for the plant unless it's burning pellets of it :)
I already have MgSO4 & K2SO4 in my system. BTW I am hydro not soil.
So, my increase in terpenes and amount of trichomes is just from thin air right? I don't need to prove a before and after to know it works. Those who don't believe do not have to use it. I have grown Super Silver Haze for over a year now and have tested with this strain and 5 others. Only 1 showed no major improvement. Though, that may just mean that it needs more in order to be effected.
I said SSH because, I went from a plant that produced nice nugs with good trichs and lots of smell, to a plant that looks showered in trichs and super stinky to the point I double bag and put a super market plastic bag around if I am traveling with it and it still stinks up my vehicle.

One additional thing... So are you telling me that triacontanol is a waste of time also?

Doing as we do, because it works for "us"....Yup! Gotcha! I agree!
I like the part about sulfur and PM - nice one!
I do have crab meal and insect frass in my soils! Maybe, just maybe, all these things are working together for us? I guess my animosity to AN is interfering with actual chitosan feelings...please forgive..
Triacontanol, I use alfalfa meal for mine.....I don't recall bringing that up? :peace:

Peace on!

First things first--- What is your humidity looking like? Without that in check along with temp, you'll never get more frost on your plants. And like others said, it's strain dependent. Flower mine at 45% RH and each week I tune it to a drier beat,,, until I'm at 35% the last two weeks. Stick a MH lamp over them the last week for the added UV and then you're cooking with fire. ONLY at that point should you decide if buying something with POTASSIUM is worth while. Most times than not, I don't over load them with K and have better results than guys dumping Turpinator, snow storm, X-factor, etc.

It's all in the environment

One of my first super successful grows was a "Monster Crop" of 2 plants. They came from a friend who had a wicked light outdoor yield. (Small pots, low sun)
I took them inside and revegged with the few leaves they had. I have never attempted this again but I can tell you I pulled 2 lbs off of two plants. Also, I did what Switchhitter was talking about. I had 2 400 watt lights next to each other (1 MH, 1HPS), and rotated the plants each day. They were nice and frosty, and so dense, so big. Every cola looked like a SOG grow. These things looked like African Trees. I so wish I still had a picture to share!

I have full on animosity for AN, but what am I gonna do when they make things that work and then OVERCHARGE. I am staying with hydro, and organic teas will cause more issues than good. So, I need the extracts of these plants. Though, I am going to make my own soon. Once I get this math figured out for some products that I have found that show their actual amount of these SAR PGR's.

No one in the US is upfront with what is in their products.
Not like these guys from Italy. I wish I could get some. I wrote them and am waiting on a reply.
The EU & Canada is stricter than the US when it comes to agriculture. That's why they go with things like Tria and Amino's to improve crop yields.

Here is a sidebar (The Green coke in the US is banned from Europe, well at least Belgium. My brother in law who is from there and lives there was telling me about it, that is why the wife won't touch it and sticks with her slightly less cancerous Diet Coke)
