I am writing this review (rant) because I bought 2 bag of fox farms soil (ocean forest and happy frog) and got some white bugs crawling around in there and are killing my damn plants ... So buyers beware of fox farms soil buy something else like a bag of build a soil version 3.0 like I’m gonna do when I have the funds I don’t at the moment so I watered my soil with jacks dead bug in hopes to getting rid of them fuckers .... The reason why I named the thread like I did is so when u look up fox farms reviews on line this will pop up hopefully... So long story short fuck fox farms soil....

I've used it for 6 years, only white bugs I've had were springtails.
I don’t know buddy but it’s killing my plants whatever it is ..... I have been using it for a few years and never had a problem and now my plants are struggling really bad soil I drenched the soil with some jack dead bug to see if it will fix my problem...Do spring tales cause problems???

I can understand your frustration...have you tried contacting FF? The issue you are having more than likely didn't originate at the FF factory, but rather where the soil was stored when you bought it. Usually a long with a lot of other planting supplies, areas like that are ripe for intruders looking to hitch a ride. Tens of thousands of people have had a great experience with this product. I feel like there are other factors you should consider before placing direct blame on FF. That would be like having an allergic reaction at a restaurant and instead of holding the eatery at fault, you go straight to the manufacturer.

They look over-watered. Do you have pics of the pest from before you drenched your soil with jack dead bug?

No I didn’t get any pics they seem to be cheering up a bit today .. I had thought the same thing I had them in solo cups and was watering a little bit more than a shot glass every other day to two days .. I had holes at the bottom of cups like I usually do and cut slits on the side of it to make vents to get good air flow .. I had thought the same thing that I was over watering but I wasn’t giving them a lot of water nor watering constantly that’s what made me look at the soil, that was when I notice the bugs .. I wouldn’t have freaked out but I seen like 10 in there at the top of the soil in the bag ... I threw it all away and in a couple of weeks I’m gonna buy some soil from build a soil version 3.0 ....

If the little white bugs jump around kinda like fleas and float on water, they are springtails and are harmless to plants. If anything, probably beneficial. I use them in my planted reptile enclosure because they eat the poop and rotting leaves.

been using FF for 20yrs+ with not a single prob>never although it seems more sticks and lil chunks of wood each year. I usually buy soil by the truck bed full but still have used close to 700 bags at least of FF or similar.

Your problem probably has a lot to do with how it was transported and/or stored and very little to do with the manufacturer. This can happen to any soil.

It may have happened before it got to the feed store, or it could be Fox Farm’s fault, but the anecdotal experiences of other people who have purchased and used vast amounts of this product make that seem unlikely.

I've always used both those would with a 5050 ratio. and I have probably had one scenario where I may have gotten thrips from one of the bags. but again it was probably picked up somewhere along the way in transport. it's the risk we soil growers take....i knoe there are ways of sterilizing your soil before using it

Very true sometimes when I’m pissed I say and do shit without thinking it out ... 100$ pack of beans suck to almost loose them over some bull crap ... That’s close to what I used a 75/25 OF to HF .. I’m really eager to see how this M3 works out I’ve heard that M3 with URB is a awesome combination... I’m wondering if a M3 with MEGACROP will do good ????

Last bag of FFOF I bought was total crap. No soil at all mostly just wood chips. Couldn't poke a pencil in it to plant a seed without hitting one log after another.
