Friend's First Organic Medical Grow, Unknown Seeds

I just got my medical card a week ago and I am almost ready to begin my very first grow. Here is an overview of the equipment I am using. I will have pictures of everything eventually. Coaching on my post is appreciated but be serious or I'm going to be angry. I am ALWAYS open for others opinions and concerns in my garden. Its a learning process and a fun one at that

Equipment Overview:

The grow room measures 8x8x8 or 512 Cubic feet. I have used black white poly for reflection. I got myself an inline duct fan that runs at 435 CFMand is 6 inches in diameter. Also I picked up a small more inexpensive intake fan that is also 6 inch and runs around 135 CFM. This will cause a good negative atmosphere as I have heard before from Jorge Cervantes. I am going to use Velcro to make a door in the plastic.

The lighting I have chosen to use is an exchange of CFL's and HPS . I will use 2 120 watt CFL's for the Vegatative state.This should put out ample amount of light for the vegetative state and cut electricity costs (over using a MH for veg). For the flowering stage I have chosen to use 2 600w HPS lights. I have heard that using 2 600 watts is more cost efficient than 1 1000 watt so I opted for the lesser. My reflectors are common square aluminum reflectors with hammer finish to improve quality of light.

The Nutrients I have chosen to use are Earth Juice. This nutrient has had a great track record. It is also held in high regard among many veteran growers I have met. I purchased all different ones:
Grow Formula-Self explanatory
Bloom Formula-Self explanatory
Catalyst-complements the fertilizer (really all i need are these three)
Meta-K-This is potassium amendment. It is used during all stages of growth. I have opted to use it during the entire grow with each feeding (every other watering or once a week).
Microblast- Micro-nutrient used to prevent overall deficiency.
Assist- I am almost kicking myself I bought this one, considering all it does is make the water wetter. I have heard that can be achieved by using dish soap. However, this is an organic substance and I don't think much dish soap is either.

I have lots of accessory such as the normal trimmers, timers, temperature gauges, etc. I picked up some items I deemed cool. I picked up are a light meter, which will tell me exactly what kind of light my plants are receiving. I got a green headlamp so I can work at night. That will be fun. I got a little pump spray can that oxygenates the water as u water plants. I can use it for nutrients and for regular waterings if I want. It is exactly 2 gallons so I can measure nutrients well.

Well there it is, a very detailed explanation of my beginners garden with some pro techniques i picked up from friends.

I have found many seeds off of four random sacks I picked up through out the last few years. I do not really know any names of these, however this makes it sorta fun for me and I hope for readers. I have made some arbitrary names based on the content and quality of the consumed product.

Shwag- I picked these seeds up when I was living on the east coast a few years back. The sack was literally half seeds. I am not kidding. I recovered over 50 seeds. I have used them for various smaller grows. I have 20 left. I have not yet grown this seed under perfect conditions and am anxious to see what results I can get. So far the results support the name I chose. Its probably a ruderalis. We will see. I will not even consider using this plant as a mother.

Bomb Sativa- This sack I picked up more recently from a local outdoor grower. Most of you should know when weed is grown outdoors it gets seeded. I got about 20 seeds off a half. This was a really amazing smoke all around. This plant has the greatest potential in this crop. In fact I have chosen to get a mother plant out of these seeds. This weed produced some of the best highs and best tastes I've ever had (using earth juice I should enhance the flavor even more, perhaps).

Bro RDM- One day my younger brother handed me a sack of 10 seeds inside a pill jar. He gave me no information about them. I believe they are random seeds from different sacks but could easily be all from one sack. He told me "they are good seeds". What the hell does that mean? I have no idea. This should be the most interesting enterprise. I will ask him if he wants a mother or may clone a few just for him if he asks. I don't plan on using this in any other grow because of the lack of knowledge on them. Considering the area he lives in, they should be at least medium quality buds.

Strawberry- I picked up this sack when I was living on the east coast. It was the best I ever smoked over there. That isn't saying much considering I would say its medium quality. It tastes EXACTLY like strawberry's. I only got one good seed off of this sack but I have another that looks like a bird seed. I may make the one seed I have a mother just to clone a bunch of them. My wife loves this one for some reason. If it gets sickly its booted though.


I have chosen to grow 20 mature plants. So I am planting around 45 seeds.

The seeds have now sprouted and are doing great. I have chosen to play music while they grow up. The music seems to be helping. As this is my first grow, however, I don't really know the difference. 40 of the 44 I planted have come out of the soil. All of them look as if they are perfectly happy. I have been interchanging the humidity dome to try to keep the humidity at acceptable lvls (i believe its around 60-70% for seedlings). Also I have been using a warm humidifier to do the same thing. I'm really just experimenting with different things. I have a small fan blowing on them constantly when they are out of the dome, to help with air circulation and stem hardening. Most of them have sprouted "true" leaves out of the seed leaves. I have been turning the entire object once every 2 days to ensure proper light exposure. I have decided to not fertilize at all until they are transplanted next Sunday.
