Frustration with ventilation

So I have a 3x5x5 grow area with a 400 W HPS with an air cooled hood and a 4x12 charcoal carbon scrubber with a TD 100x that is 135 CFM with out the scrubber.

Anyway I had ordered a TD 150 to cool the light seperated from the grow to keep out most of the heat so I can add CO2 and the god damn fan burnt out after 15 mins of running.

So I was wondering how much airflow will be needed to cool the light and if I could pull air through the scrubber and through the light. I might go to the depot and get a 6 inch duct fan for $30 and see how that does.

I really don't want to tear into my ductwork as it is laid out perfectly. I'll post some pics eventually of my stealth grow setup. The babies are waiting to go in.

Did you have the fan directly wired to a switch or timer or was it tied into a dimmer, speed controller or rheostat?

the fan wasn't wired to anything but the power cord with the hot wire on the low speed terminal, the polarity was correct also. I suspect that my air intake wasn't large enough. At least there is a warranty.

if noise isnt a problem get a squirrel fan those move alot of air very quickly just set it on a timer to come on every hour for 5 min you will be suprised and make sure you have a constant gentle breeze blowing over the canopy of your plants this prevents fungus and pests and ensures proper growth of the stem

hey check out grainger.com for shaded pole blowers. The clearance ones can be cheap for a good blower.
