ok first...if u use a 24hr light cycle plz dont post a bunch of reasons why you like it....

anyway the reason i say this is becuase i just reacently tryed this to see why people did this (this = 24hr light cycle) and i donno 5 plants later i didnt have one female for a new mother (50 us $ waste of seeds) ive always have used a 18/6hr and always used 5 plants....i have about 23 grows under my belt and never been 5/5 stumped

ps i use cfls for cloning and seed starting only... i use HD bulbs for vedg n bud

in jorge cerventa's grow bible, there's about a half of page of info that he says are ways to increase chances of getting more females from seeds..
some of these tips are i think like higher levels of nitrogen, lower temps, etc etc.. i forget most of them honestly, but the one i do remember was him saying that fewer hours of light for the first 3 or so weeks of life from seeds would give one more females... i tried this on my last grow, and i had a better percentage of females than i did males, but it wasn't a very scientific test, and i had only done it once. i'm still intriqued with this method, and more so now you said that you got more males with 24 hours of light...
things that make me go hmmmm... :)

interesting.... maybe this is why my TGA gear only turned up 1 female in 8 seeds. (Tried 5 all male then tried 3 and 1 fem).

i have bought a lot of tga gear and alot of them were male which is why i dont buy it anymore, really dont think length of light has anything to do with getting a higher % of females, i select my sees by hand now and look for certain trait in how the seed is formed and im pretty spot on with above 90% female selection

This is not a controlled study and does not prove ANYTHING! Plenty of people run 24/0 and have normal chances of getting Females just as much as 18/6. I think you just had some bad luck, that said I am not really convinced there's much reason to go 24/0 over 18/6, personally.

Can't remember where I read it but I thought 24/0 light was for better/faster growth during veg.
IME no its a waste of power and money my plants are the same size but with better yeilds and i veg using the 12/1 regime and i see virtually no stretch and very tight internode spacing, thicker stocks and branches (which is good for dripping wet resinous buds) and i can veg under hid with less cost then my flower cycle, and have better growth then if i vegged under t5 of cfl or led

sex of a plant has 0 to do with the amount of light you gave it at start...they are coded in its DNA for the sex...you have a 50% chance of female in straight run seeds...so you in turn have a 3.125% chance of all seeds being all male or all female with 5 of them :D

just my two cents. seeds sex is PRE Determined, it takes a lot of early stress to change it completely and that is very rare still. the only thing that can happen typically is hermies not full males. you just had shitty luck my friend. i have grown many times also, and it happens on ANY veg light cycle. has NOTHING to do with 24/0 lights. in fact 24/0 works much much better for new clones in my experience. just wanted to let people know what i know! good luck!

I'm running 24 hrs on some plants right now. I'm expecting more males outta the 6 anyways as they too are TGA beans. First run of Jillybean I ever grew had 4/5 males. I was pissed but just made a mother out of her. I'll chime back in here in a few more weeks to curse the males. Will inform.
