Sorry to hear it Legal.... But I like megaliths perspective...... Also looking forward to your detailed assessment of why it happened? Combination perhaps?, buds so thick, not enough airflow coupled with 82degree temps... stale air from lack of fresh air circulated in?
Id like to haer what you thinkthe culprit was as well LF...

Definately a case of poor ventilation I'm fairly certain. Hum is always between 55 and 40. I plugged one of my fans into the light controller one day and forgot to switch it out so my big fan wasn't running at night. Just bought 3 ionic breeze fans and a 24" fan so you can bet your ass that my next grow is going to be like a wind tunnel :)

Good to hear at least its an easy fix. I've got 1 small fan, 1 oscillating wall mount fan and 1 big tabletop vornado that isn't even in the room yet that I need to throw in my room to help with this!

Despite the rot, your buds are still gonna be killer mate.

Yeah if u chop before it spreads crazy you can just cut it out. I lost maybe 1/4 to a 1/2 this way one time. imo 55 rh is too high for flower, I like to keep mine at a steady 40% if I can. Anything over 50 and those spores can start germinating. Then you look at the RH inside the buds and it's even higher. So I think your spot on with the circulation idea, but don't rule out over 50% rh as being a possible cause. I havn't had rot since the day I bought my dehumidifier, no additional fans were ever added.

I was reading somewhere that poor oxygen may be a contributor... You dont have fresh air coming in... so , PERHAPS?

Some strains are just prone to mold as the bud density doesn't allow the small leaves inside the bud to transpire freely. The moisture gets stuck and rot occurs. Lower humidity and fans help but not in every environment. Good luck and you still have some good looking product there.

Yeah I gotta agree..I don't think sealed room necessarily equals mold just because of lack of fresh air flow...as Homebrewer pointed out it might be the strain and genetics...I know my LSDs are SUPPOSEDLY mold and disease resistant and very very hardy and hard to fuck up...thats the main reason I started with them. HOpefully its all true! :)

I selectively harvested about half of the bigger buds last night. Only ran into a tiny bit more rot. That huge bud weighed in at 7.6 ounces. That's pretty damn fat for a plant that had 8 growing shoots. That puppy is getting cloned. :)

Oh yeah baby...... don't worry about me utterly crushing you during "SCROG OFF 2011", I didn't clone all of the next flowering round from that plant. (but I do have about 6 of my 12 from that plant :) )

this grow is officially over.. will let everyone know dry weights in a week or so.
What about wet weight? Just curious for personal knowledge what the ratio of wet/dry typically is...1/5? 1/4? Any idea on avg? I'm sure it varies, but give me the ballpark median..

Thanks,

X
