FYI Grow tent supports break

I have a 30" x 30" grow tent and I had a 6" sealed hood hanging from provided bar that goes across the top and the plastic end pieces that connect end to end snapped and my hood sent my plant inside my bubble bucket. It could of been alot worse like fire and house burned down so I figured I would pass this along. I have seen someone post a warning in the past about this and I ignored it so my advice is to reinforce your support some how or dont hang a hood in a small tent like that. It has now become my clone room with cfls. I swear my hood is cursed, the glass shattered and then my 600w hortilux bulb blew a hole out of itself and now it collapsed on to my plants. All my plants have survived these catastrophic events luckily.

wow i re-read the op's post. that is drastic to have the plastic 3 way connector break. i was thinking it was one of the cheap bars that go across that are provided for hanging lights etc.

how would one reinforce a 3 way connector?

It was the cheap bar provided lol. The ends of the bar are plastic and hook on to frame and thats what snapped.

From the looks of it, they are the really cheap ones that don't have gussets. Oh it was the cheap bar.. Why would the ends have plastic? That's just a bad design.

It came with two top bars and I broke both of them with the same hood about a month apart. I thought maybe the first one was defective so I used the other one like a dumbass.

Mine also has a cheap bar but what I did was run it above the support bar so it is supported by something. I'm sure under it would snap just like yours if it wasn't supported.

Yeah I think because I was running a 600w and the temps rising and falling made the plastic give after time.

never said to use both bars in my directions and I hung hood directly on bar and it wouldnt fit both on both of them but I imagine it might of prevented the breakage

The secret jardin tents dont have plastic end pieces on the top piece so how did the same thing happend to you?
mmmm, the support bar buckled and everything came down, not sure how it actually happened, its not like i spend my days staring at my tent waiting for it to happen. and on a side note the dr150s DO have plastic corner peices

should of the the light opposite of bars using both instead of one, mine had plastic corners wich are failry strong cant see them breaking, the cross bars i can see breaking with alot of weight especially one.

Have u contacted manufacturer?

That's unfortunate. I am glad you are okay and nothing worse happened.

I can never stress this enough: Invest in quality grow equipment! It'll last for years and the extra expense is worth it! If you get a new tent, consider hydrofarms lighthouse. There are no cornerpieces, it's all steel poles.
