garage grow

Hey guys, i want to do a 16'x3x10' perpetual grow in my garage. I live where temperatures go from high 90;s in the summer down to lows of -30 in the winter so the large closet needs to be insulted. The space will be split in 2, 8ft for flowering and 8ft for veging, seedlings, and eventually a few moms. Lights will be 3 315 cmh for flowering and 2 315 cmh for veg. Any thoughts on how to make it somewhat stealthy? I need to have access panels but they also need to be insulated. Right now the only thing I can think of is to use insulated doors that open up like garden doors, 2 doors that open up on each side. This is doable but will look very strange. Any thoughts?

Naww, garage seems wasteful unless you growing more than 4. 40 square foot is sufficient for up to 4 to grow without completing with the others for light. 40 square feet walk in closet style is very stealth. Plus either way, youll need constant ventilation. That means door open or hole in wall. Not too stealthy for a garage. For proper ventilation youll need a 4 inch vent for 3-4 big plants. And more if they stay small and if you are allowed.

Thanks for the reply. I'm not sure what you mean by wasteful. I'm not too concerned about ventilation as the insulated closet will have access to/is beside a temperature controlled room, so I will be able to draw in 65- 70 degree temps year round. To start I will be using a 6 " inline fan (around 400 cfm I believe) and exhaust it outside. I'm not looking to have it completely stealthy but I dont want the large closet to look "weird" with 4 doors. I'm also planning on 8 plants vegging while 8 plants are flowering.

Yes the garage is roughly 18' ft wide and the "closet" will be going straight across the back wall. The garage is used for storing one vehicle, a small work bench and then storage for this and that.

Is the garage climate controlled / insulated? You still plan to park cars in there (could bring in pests).

Yah pests could be a problem to watch out for. No the garage isn’t temp controlled, that’s the problem I’m trying to solve. I need to have insulated access into the closet that doesn’t look extremely out of place. The garage is beside a temp controlled room so I’ll be able to pull those temps for the grow space.

So to be clear you're wanting to know how to feed warm air from inside your house into a closet you're building in your uninsulated garage?
Actually just re read and I'm seeing the problem is access to said closet while keeping it insulated?

Ventilation is not a problem, that should be easy enough pulling from a temp controlled room. Yes, insulated access that doesn’t look “strange” is the goal.

You could build it out the way you stated, then add another 2 or 3 feet in front of the veg and flower room to act as a hallway. It'll only look like it has 1 door, and it gives you some room to store your materials out of the way, and out of sight.

I think this pic shows what I mean pretty well.
