Garbage Beans: I give you Dutch Passion Orange Bud Fems 2023

I never put breeders on blast, but this has to be the worst 3pk of beans I've come across. Ordered a 5pk from MVB, but then they didn't really have them in stock, so I ended up with a 3pk.

Plant 1 - Full blown male a week into flower. No pistils, just balls everywhere. Culled.
Plant 2 - Started throwing a handful of nanners around week 4 of flower. Too many to just pluck. Culled.
Plant 3 - Only plant in the garden that developed an obvious Ca deficiency. Not a deal breaker, but the plant also isn't going to yield much either.

Overall, these were garbage. I didn't expect anything amazing, but sheesh. It's a shame because Orange Bud was one of my favorite Coffee Shop strains in the 90's.

It's probably the same exact thing
Correct @MtRainDog Nope its different one difference actually the just orange bud is a pure skunk orange pheno the old Cali orange bud is thai x columbian gold x Acapulco gold so its like skunk with thai in place of columbian and tbh for smoking i much prefer cali o to orange bud if i had to choose neithers super potent but can be tasty both never were super stable sexually either in the seed versions but i bet its not improved with dutch passions lines these days probably the opposite

No worries, you're all missing my point lol.. I know the breeders claim it's one thing.. Just like I'm sure Dutch Passion claimed that Orange Bud was what they said and was good. I mean they claimed it was fems but 2 of 3 turned out male or herm so.. As the op found out you cannot always go by what the breeder says to sell their seeds.

I am just saying don't expect much from these breeders.. It's been widely discussed that Sensi Seeds are not who they once were, and the same goes for many of the eu breeders with few exceptions.. from various sources around the net it sounds like many of them lost their original good breeding stock and don't even bother breeding their own seeds anymore now, instead choosing to outsource.. I cannot confirm any of this but it sure seems like you very rarely see any gems being shown from any of these breeders

At this point I think it’s safe to assume all those companies are outsourcing to Spain by now. Can they even have farms for breeding in the Netherlands?

I've heard the Netherlands has become less tolerant of it since the 90's. Don't know, haven't been back since.

The remaining 1 of 3. It's not the worst looking plant I've seen. All 3 were alright in veg.

I agree, some of the Spanish companies are really good. I don't know who the breeder of this freebie Amnesia Lemon is, but I'd put money on it's from Spain. She certainly has my attention.

Honestly, I think both those plants are looking good, so props you're doing those things justice.

Amnesia Lemon is from Barneys, so yes probably outsourced to Spain.

I've heard nothing BUT good things about Amnesia Lemon though, which is a rarity not to hear complaints about a Barneys strain.

Yeah cos there government now and for the last wee while are kinda christian driven so anti weed and anti sex tourism etc so its just killing the scene in the dam a bit as for Dutch passion as a breeder these days they just clearly arent putting in the work and selection and testing like they used to i guess

I ordered orange bud from dutch passion on attitude about 20 years ago, I crossed it to south african durban poison... I still have tons of those seeds, ancient but they all sprout

I just placed an order with Herbies today, Delicious Seeds had a restock, and I've been wanting to get some Critical x's back in the garden. Went with their Critical x Jack Herer and Critical x Neville's Haze. I don't like placing big orders overseas so I'm not out a lot of $ if it gets nabbed by customs.

I went with 5 more of the Amnesia Lemon freebies. TBH, I grew 3 of those too, but the other 2 were very different than the one above. They were tiny little dwarf plants. Healthy and all, but small, bushy, stocky. Didn't make the cut to enter the flower room.

I never had any problems with Dutch Passion. There will always be bad batches of seeds. Their Durban Poison and Mazar are both killer along with some other classics.

Did you order directly from their site or third party?

I got them from multiverse. They were legit DP beans. No germination problems.
