i know this is a really nooby question, but i really have issues germinating, no matter what i do, what im wondering is, is there a way were i can germinate ad have a 100% chance of the seed actually sprouting. for instace could i just plant it in some soil dampen the soil with some water and leave it for a few days in room temperature?

I germinate using the paper town method, Wet a paper towel put the seed in and fold over (i then put in sealed bag to keep moister in) then put in dark warm place. i then check it after 24 hours then if still not germed then every 12 hours

I agree with the above method. I normally get seeds popping a little over 24 hours with the same method. Some good places to put the seeds is... Behind the frige, on top of a stereo receiver, behind a computer tower, etc. You don't want it too warm. If you can afford a few bucks this is an awesome method I use, go to a walgreens, get a heat pad, then take that place a washcloth put it in the heat mat, put the seeds with the papertowel (inside a ziplock) method inside the mat/washcloth and set to low. In 24 hours you will have seeds cracking.

I'm going to try this with my heat mat that I have for germination. Thanks for the info. :)

These are decent methods, I personally just put them in pre watered soil and watered with a spray bottle every day. All 5 sprouted and are doing great. Alot of people do the papertowel thing, I was just to lazy to do that extra step lol.

Howdy! I myself am a newbie and had a little crysis last week, when trying to germinate a few seeds...I tried the water glass method (keeping a seed in a glass water in a dark and warm place), and it resulted in a slow germination. After I've transplanted the seed into the soil, it's growing very slow (almost broke the soil after 4 days in soil + pregermination). However, I also tried the paper towels method, and after about 30 hrs, I ended up with a nice little seedling (the seed was almost open already). I've now planted the seedling and placed it under fluoros and I should have the plant breaking the soil pretty soon now...I don't expect more than 1 day. That's half the time spent with the water glass method. I guess keeping the seed into the water shocks the plant when you take it out of the water to put it into the ground. Or perhaps it was just the temperature difference that did this for me... Hope this helps you! Happy growing.

i tried the paper towel method last year but i failed epically, so this year i might try some in a paper towel and then i might just start some in some damp soil.
