Data!

Perhaps people are coming to this conclusion based on the number of tops a plant has effecting the final said size of those tops. Not that the two can be used to reference one another but I can see the stretch to get there not that it's true or not.

Doesn't cannabis stop growing sun leaves during flowering?
Plants do start focusing on flower production and stop producing large leaves. That doesn't mean that the leaves are not playing a vital part in the plants growth. Those leaves are using light, water, carbon dioxide to produce food through photosynthesis. Removing those leaves reduces the plants food production capabilities. If the goal is more food to the buds then removing the leaves would be counter productive.

You can search around for your data. I am pretty certain there have been numerous side by sides here that have proven it to be fact.

Nice!

The only thing that confuses me, I tend not to assume people are lying even though most do, are the grows that show you the outcome of defoliation during stretch or flower. Not that I buy what they're selling lock stock and barrel but perhaps there is some logic behind it but I need DATA.

You can find people religiously standing behind one way or the other and is the most upsetting thing about growing cannabis, contrary information.

Really depends more on your situation.
I grow for personal, not sale. I have no problem taking the tops, and waiting for the lowers to mature.
Someone growing for production purposes probably doesnt want the hassle.
