Hey all. Been hit with a bout of fungus gnats again. Had a small infestation about a month ago, knocked them down to next to nothing, but they're coming back with a vengeance as I'm heading into the last 2-3weeks of flower and this time my IPM is not having as much effect in them.
Actions taken: I've been doing soil drenches every few days the past week with neem oil and sulfur dust. dusting the surface with diatomaceous earth and very carefully, to avoid the buds, misting the medium surface with neem and insecticidal soap mixture. Yellow sticky cards around and in every pot for the adults. Also tried applying Pot Popper predatory nematodes a week ago. Still can't get rid of them and seems as bad now as a week ago.
I'm growing in coco so I need to water at least once a day, hence the medium stays damp, which obviously is part of issue breaking the cycle. I want to be giving them a frequent fertigation schedule and have tried to let the medium dry as much as I feel safe to do. The top 2-3" of coco/perlite is bone dry after 24hrs, but the gnats are still surving in the drainage holes. If I let it dry out more it will surely harm the root system.
What to do?
I'm getting desperate at this point. I've heard mixed opinions on using hydrogen peroxide. Also heard mosquito dunks can work, anyone tried this in coco?
Another issue is I'm in Canada and do not have access to gnatrol or Hydroguard it seems, which would have been my first choices.
Thoughts? TIA
P.s. after this I'm thinking i want to wash my buds after haverst, not a water cure but just give them a rinse to try to remove any gnats and bug shit or whatever before hanging to dry. Anyone else do this? Is this where using a little hydrogen peroxide might be an idea?
