Gnats

tetramethrin, cypermethrin, or methoprene are common in foggers, with insect growth regulators added, like MGK 264 and Nylar.
Only saw one using pyrethrin, others use permethrin.

Gnats here eat pyrethrum and it’s synthetic varieties for lunch. Can somewhat suppress populations but not eliminate them. BT though is lethal to them and Gnatrol has toxins made by the bacteria.

A couple weeks ago I suddenly had a shit ton of gnats buzzing around. I put up sticky paper and a few vinegar traps and it was all very effective and wiped them out over a week or so.

However I’m now noticing there are a few dead ones under the leaves. It looks like they landed upside down, latched on and just never left.

Is that part of their life cycle or do they start getting stuck in trichomes??

It’s fucking gross. Luckily there were only four and I tweezered them away without knocking them into a bud.

Stop over watering

Save DE for last resort - it'll kill beneficial critters as well

Gnats are kind of like having the shanks in golf. You want to quietly walk away, avoid saying the word and not get involved.
Garden pumice, 1/8 screened. Spread a nice thick layer on top and the little buggers can't get through to lay their eggs or whatever nasty thing it is they do in your soil. Sticky traps to finish collecting them.
Oh and a curse on the houses of the potting soil companies whose products introduced them in the first place.

But do you like to smell your fingers after squishing them? Asking for a friend.

What worked for me a small fan on lowest setting pointed at the top of the soil ,it keeps them from landing and laying eggs .

I used to use a product called Growstone Gnatnix. It looked like perlite but was sharper pieces the gnats didn't like to crawl on it. An Inch on top did a decent job with a minimum sighting of gnats
I could no longer find any so what I had left I made reusable sacs out of paint strainer bags that have been working well.

Since then I've been experimenting with a product called Pittmoss (recycled paper/cardboard perlite replacement product as seen on Shark Tank) topping my smaller plants with it the same way and also making sacs for the bigger plants. Seems to be working just as good. If topped it can be mixed in with the soil when done.

mine see to me conquered for the moment. for weeks i couldn't get rid of them. i had this really bushy reveg plant...it was dense. anyway, it was full of flies when i finally spread that thing out.
i had been spraying pretty heavy with neem which did absolutely nothing.
i uses peroxide at 1:3 in water. it may have done something, but i could see a lot of activity the day or two after. the peroxide messed up the plant a bit. However, they were pretty much all gone after hitting with mosquito bits in solution. i use an old nylon footie my gf uses for some shoes to make it look like she is barefoot in order to keep the bits out of the feed solution. follow instructions and soak for a couple hours.

I've seen you post this several times, and my search was specifically for a permethrin soil drench. What ratio should I mix? I have 2.5‰ permethrin.
Sorry to take so long to get back to you Kat I use 36.8% Permethrin so your dilutional solution is going to be different. I use 5cc permethrin 36.8%/360cc water

I hope that helps and good to see you stop by again. I hope you're doing well.
