Looking good man! I can't wait to get my tent started... I finally got my light mover, my carbon filter, and 10 more seeds of northern lights!! But your looking good, I can't wait to see your yield!!
Thanks man. Sounds like you've got something up your sleeve. Should be good once you get it off the ground. Should be soon, I hope....

You and me both on the yield thingy. I've got my sights high but I'm also a noob, so I'm bound to fuck it up somehow.

FATTY leaves!!!
Hell yah! I'm a huge indica fan, so these should suit me fine.

So if you live in CO, why not just become a care giver and start growing like a mad man?
I've thought about it but the laws are too sketch right now. Not to mention all the DEA bust shit going down in CO right now...I'd be a target for sure. Until marijuana is made legal on the federal level, it is too risky for big operations, especially highly profitable ones. MMJ being legal on a state-wide level is just a bunch of bs trying to lull people into a false sense of security. I just got my cert so I could show my landlord in case they decided to come into my apt for some reason.

Word. I saw the video about that guy that got busted, but he was dumb. But it seems like it wouldn't make sense for them to bust people making 60-90K a year off it. The guy that got on the news was saying he expected $400K from his harvest. Shit if I lived out there I would want to devote 2000 Watts to flowering, and would be able to pay my way through grad school, idk. I got a friend out in Fort Collin that is a care giver, and it seems like if you're not an idiot and dont get greedy, things will go fine. But idk it's just a dream of mine.

Haha I know a few people with MBAs that used to sell weed. Shit I know a guy at Ga Tech getting his MBA that used to sell weed.

Yes, I agree, he was an idiot. You don't go around rubbing your finger in the feds eye bragging about how you're making six figures off your illegal grow. He deserved everything he got. Low profile is the key in this game.

I'm in Fort Collins as well and the local law enforcement seems more focused on DUI enforcement than stopping anything pot related, so that works in my favor a bit. Its still those damn feds, though. If they decide to come up and bust who they want, there is nothing we can do to stop them.

btw how rude of me to not compliment you on your luscious garden. Looks great
lol, thanks bro. I need to take some updated pictures because it has become less of a garden and more of a jungle during this first week of 12/12. Plants have recovered from the overnute pretty well and new growth looks very healthy. Thanks for dropping by +rep.

The healthy plants have exploded since last pictures and the pH challenged bagseed is slowly recovering. I've backed the nutes back on everything to around 1.2 to 1.5 EC and the new leaves are coming out normal and healthy. Should start seeing some pistil action soon on the trainwreck and la woman.

Just started some seeds the other day of some white widow I go from a friend. They germinated within 24 hours and should sprout out of the rockwool any day now. I'm also going to cut a bunch of clones of the la woman before she starts flowering. She's healthy and hearty, so I don't want to waste the chance to make more. I certainly have the room.

So far 3 plants have been casualties of this latest growing effort. Two of the bagseed were tossed and the latest victim was the Kings Kush plant. The roots started rotting, so I knew it was beyond redemption. I've got another tiny Kings Kush going alongside my rockwool cubes in the 150w cab. Once its big enough, I'll toss it in with the rest of the plants to keep the cycle somewhat perpetual.

The jungle. LA woman in back, Trainwreck on right, ph challenged bagseed in bottom left corner:

Can you share why the root started rotting and anything you could have done different to prevent it? I'm still doing my Ebb and Flow (still trying to finish my darn tent), but I will be doing DWC and just would like to know what to look out for!

Thanks!

I'll do my best but its still a bit of a mystery to me. The damage from way too high PPM's while on vacation was too severe for the plant to overcome. I'm pretty sure the roots started rotting because they were damaged and started dying. I keep the res light proof and water temp below 70 degrees, so that is the only explanation I can think of. It may have been able to recover but the roots looked too brown and slimy to do it any good, so I tossed it. I don't have enough time left in my lease to be fucking around with retarded plants. I have thought more than once about tossing the pH challenged bagseed taking up space in the tent but it showed signs of recovery today, so it will probably make it through my impatience and survive.

Thinkin about doing DWC in the future, just curious how you keep your res temperature below 70? What kind of cooling do you do?

Not a damn thing. No cooling necessary. The res stays right around 68 degrees with the ambient air temp in the tent reaching a max of 80 degrees. With no pump to warm the water like with an aero or bubbleponics setup, its obvious the cause of the res being too warm is the environment surrounding it. The people with res temp issues, I suspect, are those that keep their grow space too warm and/or do 24/0 lighting.

Good luck with the DWC. Its super easy once you get the hang of it and the results are impressive compared to other growing methods.

Sweet! I switched over today. Check my journal if you'd like. I'm looking forward to seeing how this new system is going to do. I'm getting a lot of pH meter practice getting water dialed in. What pH do you run?

Nice looking setup! The plants should just explode with growth once they start creating new roots. I'm going to subscribe and follow along with you.

I keep my pH within 5.5 to 6.5 but aim for around 5.7 right after adjustment. As long as it is within range, pH isn't that big of a deal. It really only needs to be checked once every few days once you get the system down.

Sweet. Thanks for the tips. All 3 of my pumps are dual outlet so I'm going to overlap airstones kind of like you did with yours. Better safe than sorry!

I was scrolling through your journal and saw you're using Humbolt (I asked what you were using back in my journal). Have you been pretty happy with them? I did some Google'ing and it looked like that was a bloom/flower only fert? Like you mixed A&B together? Or is A veg and B bloom (or vice versa). I feel like I'm over thinking this but it's obviously my first experience with a 2 part fertilizer system.

+rep for all the help! We're moving to Foco in June. I'll have to buy you a beer or something

Yeah, redundant systems are the best way to ensure any failure doesn't take out your whole crop. Each of my pump is running three stones, two in one tub and one in the other just in case of pump failure.

Humboldt Master A/B has been good so far but I was using too much of it. A little bit goes a long way and their feeding schedule is pretty accurate. With two part fertilizers, you use them in different proportions depending on the stage of growth. In veg, it is a 2:1 or 5:3 ratio of A to B and in flower, it is a 1:1 ratio. Here's the feeding schedule. It is stupid easy to follow and doesn't require a shit ton of additives to be effective like other lines. Like I said in your other post, I use just the A/B, Ginormous, and a touch of Calmag. I add 5ml/gal of Calmag to the fresh water after every res flush just to make sure there are no deficiencies.

My lease is up at the end of May, but hopefully I'll still be around. Where are you at now and what brings you up to foco? I definitely want to take you up on that offer...so much good beer around.

I live in Silverthorne up in Summit County. The gf and I graduated college from ISU two years ago and moved here to do the ski bum thing and to get residency for grad school. She's pre-vet so CSU is the obvious choice. Our lease ends in June so that's when we're saying goodbye to the mountains and hello to real life again.

So true, we've got some of your area's beer in the kegerator right now. The one and only Odell's Red. Delicious!

Nice! Yep, I hear CSU is one of the best vet schools in the country. You must have a very smart GF. Are you going to grad school as well? I've been tossing up the idea but I've had enough school for a while.

Yes, Odell's is my favorite in town. You really can't go wrong with anything they brew. Their IPA is my favs even if it is cliche.

We felt the same way about school, hence our two year hiatus. You'll hit the point though where you get tired of working hourly and your friends who didn't take time off start buying houses and getting promotions at their real jobs. It'll make you want to either get back into school or get a real job. The way I see it though if she's in grad school I should probably go back too. As you know there aren't a lot of jobs and getting more education can never hurt. We don't regret taking two years off in between at all and if you're not feeling school at the moment, take some time off. I'm sure my GPA will be tons better now that I WANT to go back to school. Just don't leave the state, most of the rest of the country isn't the weed love mecca that Colorado is!

Good point.

I have a business degree, so I don't really need grad school like an engineer or science major would to get decent employment. Its really more about who you know, how much motivation you have, and how competent you are at what you do. My mom just retired from a 250k a year consulting job a few years back and she had a BA in English. Her degree wasn't even in the field she worked in. She just has tremendous drive and a knack for networking. If a particular job requires me to go back for a post-graduate degree on their dime, I'd consider it but I think there are enough opportunities out there for me with only a BS.

But yeah, I have to get out and assess the job situation before I can determine if I have enough schooling for what I really want to acheive professionally.

Fo sho dude! Good luck with whatever direction you end up going in. My old roommate had a philosophy degree and worked as an accountant at Keystone. She got promoted to supervisor too so I think you're right about making any degree work as long as you put in a little hustle. I just want my Mazerati someday!

And I see your dog turned into a robot (avatar) Ha tough morning!
