Going out of town help

Growers,

I'm an indoor grower and going out of town and have no one to water. If I have ~ 1 or 2 foot high plants in veg that are normally under 800W HID, would it work to turn one light off and run only 400W and raise that up say 1 foot, and also give the plants a heavy dousing before I leave? Will they drink slower since the light is less? If they normally get watered every 3 days, will they last 8 days alone? Could they last 2 weeks?

I don't want to set up an elaborate dripping system. That sounds dreadful.

You could use 7 day timer feed with small pump 1/4 inch feed lines every 3 days for a few minutes just a thought bro

I guess that idea is a possible fall back if I must, but it's still iffy because I would need like a dozen tubes and I just don't know about that...

No they won't last, you got to do as suggest and get some kind of Auto feeder

oh shit. Has anyone tried turning the lights down? It's starting to sound like it won't reduce their intake.

It's not starting to sound like it, it is it. I don't have any experience with them but have heard good things about blu mat watering system there's a few others available too, good luck

okay okay. Blue mat looks cool but too much investment. I thought the "cloudy days" would just slow the growth down.

Cloudy Day slowing the growth indoors..?! Dude I had a plant in a corner that I missed for about one extra day at most (probably more like 12-18 hours) that I just happened to catch this morning, it barely came back! And you're talking about up to 2 weeks without watering? Forget about it. What's the investment you already have in your plants worth to you I guess is the question? regardless good luck I hope it works out for you man

Yeah, like I'm simulating cloudy days man! Low light, cooler temps, slower growth,...etc.

I guess the less light thing would work to an extent. It'd be like keeping a mother plant under less light. But I think you will need a drip line. Small water pump, hose to fit the pump, and 1 gal. drippers. Pretty cheap and not much work. Just need a water source. 5 gallon bucket will work or larger for safety

And blumats are wortg the investment imo. But i understand this is more a short term fix

You got it man, short term fix. Don't get me wrong, I think the blumats sound awesome and the pump on a timer is a good idea. Just getting nickel and dimed to death from my favorite hobby. Just want to make it through the break. I drenched some plants in flower and they went at least 3 days longer than usual without needing water. I forgot exactly how long. And that was with light on full blast. So I thought a week would be reachable and hoping to find someone who has tried.

I would think you will be able cut your wattage to a min even 100 watt bulbs just creat daylight effect that will help you'll be fine bye

When I was going out of town someone had suggested hanging a 2 liter upside down over the pot with a really small hole for it to drip out of it even a couple 2 liters per pot dont seem like a bad idea. I never tried it but it's an idea someone here suggested to do.

Have you considered sitting them "in" a water source??? You know, Heavy watering and a saucer to hold extra water while you're gone??? Their feet would be wet for longer than normal but something to consider...g/l

Maybe you can ask the local law enforcement to come by and water the ladies.....

I went on vacation for 7 days and put three of these in each of my pots with a 2 liter bottle attached to each,When I came home The three bottles were empty and the plants were still alive, these are on amazon. $7.99 for 10 of them

Use a wick system. Cotton rope and a something to hold water like a large plastic tote or equivalent.
