Going out of town, leaving a flowering plant

I've got a female 1 week into flowering and I have to go out of town for 8 days.

She is in organic soil in a growcab under cfls.

My plan is to give her a good flush then stick an aqua globe in the soil and hope for the best.

Any better suggestions???

No I don't have anyone I could trust to go water her, remember first rule of growing, tell no one!!!!!!!!!!

Do you have a timer for the lights? If not, they will go back into veg.

One aqua globe wont do it if you ask me, unless its 2 gallons. You may want to put the planter into a tub and put water in that.

OK, well, I"m gonna hook you up on a sceret I have used in the past. If you take about a 5' long piece of lamp wick (you can get this at most hardware/farm supply stores) and put about 4' of it in the pot in a snail shell pattern (spiral in the dirt) then let the other 1' hang out of the bottom. Then put your pot in a pot of water so as the pot isnt touching the water but the wick is fully submerged, you can keep your plants moist for weeks at a time depending on how much water is in the RES....... sorry i dont have any pic's or diagrams to explain. If you dont understand what i'm saying i will try to explain it better.

Like kannibis said, you can use a wick. Very Popular.

What I have done and my plants didn't die....

I sit my pots in a bucket which is bigger than the pot, water it and let about an inch or so of water stay in the bottom of the bucket.

It's kinda like a wick the water will be absorbed into your pot. I did for 9 days, watered when I got back.

Good Luck :leaf:

Thanks for the tips guys. I understand the wick system, thanks Kannabis I might try that too.
She is in gallon container so I'm thinkin 2 aqua globes will do it, I did an experiment and haven't watered since last thurs and she's still a little moist so I should be okay especially if I do a good flushing.

Not a fan of submerging bottom of pot in water method though as it promotes root rot and encourages roots to grow thru bottom of pots, IMHO.

Lights r on timer, started 12/12 on the 26th.

I came home to a beautiful flowering lady!! I was gone a total of 9 days, Like I said I flushed the day I left and stuck an aquaglobe in the soil. When I got back the soil was still a little moist and the globe was 1/2 full, so those things do work in a pinch. I gave her some big bloom and I took 3 clones yesterday too. So now she is 2 weeks into flowering and doing well, hopefully I'll be able to get her outside soon to finish up. I also plan on regenerating her too.
