ive been looking for a good place to post questions about a garden but didnt find any as cool as riu..

so i have some questions to formulate...

has anyone started garden seedling from cfls and move them to MH for veg?
i would like to start all my veggies indoor from seedling. except for like corn.

what veggies produce fruit on a light cycle?

what other changes trigger fruiting?

more to come

I started tomatos about 2 months ago in a 4x4 tent. started the seeds in rapid rooter plugs, used a 400w mh their whole life. using hydro waterfarm buckets. 4 plants have overrun the whole tent. light on 18/6 since seed. should have tomatos within a month.

thats awesome.. so for tomatoes, you just keep your blue spectrum with vegging hours and the plant started making tomatoes when it was ready?

R u giving them any nutrients?

yeah man, they dont like hps at all. 18/6 the whole time. also have peppers, and venus fly trap. started everything from seed. I give them the same nute scedule as mj. using botanicare organic nutes, sweet, cal-mag, GP compost tea. ppm levels at 1600. real easy but dont put them with mj plants, bc they will over run your area.

just for fun, do you have a picture of these plants?

i would love to see what that nute line up and the indoors do for them. what is your MH watts?

ok that will work, make sure to let me know...

i'm planning on germinating way more green pepper plants than i can use. i was hoping to get ride of the rest 2 family and friends. do you think these will do better under the floresent or MH? I know MH will grow them like crazy, but I'm just looking to get them about 6 inches...

very, very nice.

r u having to catch flies to feed the fly trap? are you giving it any nutes?

I have been growing marigolds with my plants for some time, they produce manymany seeds in the process, they add a bit of beauty. i have also had catus in the flower room, most of them have bloomed in this room, they have never bloomed in the last 3 to 5 years in the window....

i also see you are doing a flood and drain? did you purchase the complete setup or build it?

buds and peppeers, very good together.

they can survive on 1 bug a year, and no nutes for the vft, it will kill it. the flood and drain is from hydrofarm complete set. I dont like it. very slow growth have it set on about 5 floods a day. to be honest the waterfarm buckets have the fastest growth than any other system ive used. just a pain in the ass changing out each bucket every week.

I would like a cactus but dont know anything about them.
Can't grow THAT hydro! ROFL.

I cloned a basil plant last fall that I'd had outside in a hempy bucket. The clone is still alive, but either it hates HPS, or basil just can't thrive beyond a certain time (I doubt this). I might bring it outside in the spring, but there will certainly be a backup for it!

I've done lots of starts indoors under CFLs though. Tomatoes, peppers, squash, eggplant. If we didn't do that we wouldn't get any summer veggies til fall!

Yup, it seems all veggies like flouros or MH. I switched bulbs to hps for two days and I thought they were gonna die.

hey, cati are easy. just dont water em really at all.

i got some about 4 years ago at walmart for super cheap. i put them under florus for about 2 years, didnt do a whole lot and didnt die, now a few of them are under my hps, and suprisingling two of them has bloomed...

they can be tricky changing pots etc..

but really there super easy to grow...

i think a lady bug hit my hps and fell on one of the catus spikes, thats two bugs that thing has killed the first was a horse fly.. haha..

i'm trying to decide if i should go wiht CFL's or tubes for these veggies?

do they need the same amount of light as pot?

I got one of them cheap htg 400w with the bat wing reflector for the veggies. I run it 18/6 all the time. ive never seen anything thrive as much as tomatoes in hydro. they are almost drinking 3/4 gallon everyday!!

i am familiar with that light..

they do a super good job for the cost.

for flowering i got the top advanced bulb option.

1/2 a gallon is amazing. what nutes are the tommies getting?

Any luck with...

cucumbers
melons
pumkins
hot peppers
onions
radish
broccoli
cabbage
beets
peas
spinach
carrots
swiss chard
eggplant

yup, same light im using. I would rather have the veggies in your room! Im using organic nutes. botanicare grow, bloom, cal-mag+ because of RO water, GH flora nectar, GH compost tea, and a few drops of superthrive. first time growing veggies inside. never tried any other veggies. starting to get a little pissed at the tomatoes for drinking too much, nutes cost money!!!
