personally, i like to camp at john bryant state park, near yellow springs.
you gotta bring your own firewood, but right down the road there is a nice family selling wood at ~$2.50 a bundle (at least last time i was camping, a few months ago)
as for law presence, there is a park ranger that comes around when it gets dark to collect money if you haven't prepaid, but honestly the last 4 times ive camped there he has not shown up at all
. he pretty much just drives around once and leaves.
one last note, it's a state park so its pretty open and all the sites are close to each other, but there are many many miles of hiking trails all around the camping area. (ive never had a problem lighting up at any time of the day there, but sometimes you gotta walk out to the woods)
