i just thought of another way to fix that right quick, a while back someone on here told me to flush with 1/4 strenght nute mix, i swear by this, this guy was the only person to tell me this....figure 1/4 strength will balance out the ph of decent water and provide any nutes that may have been locked out from the fluctuation, its an immediate fix to issues like this, as for the lime i used to put it in my mixes and never used it for problems cus i was told its slow acting, but theres a tidbit i just gained from you if it upped your ph fast

You have the claw. Your plants medium is fucked. I cant believe everyones response on this thread. They are retarded. No its not nute burn. Its unbalanced ph causing a nutrient lockout.

oh man...you again? haha...he followed the advice on here and found out his ph is too low.

Yeah.. "the flush" comes next, but I'm going to give them some time to see if the lime turns the trick. I will keep y'all posted one way or another. Good thought about flushing with very light nutrients; I have seen others suggest ending a flush with a light solution like that.

BTW, the "lime" I'm using is a horticultural calcium carbonate with an added surfactant (Pennington for lawns). This does two things: gives you fast action (dolomite lime is slow to break down; great for soil mixes, not much help for problems), and pretty much prevents "overshoot" that hydrated lime can easily give you. The max pH that calcium carbonate can produce in solution is 8.4, and that's in a truly pure solution. In a soil, it'd be very hard to get over a low 7-something. So it may be something for your arsenal, and at $6 a bag, it's as cheap as it gets.

thatnks for the rep bro, also watch your ferts, they advertise as "PH balanced" yet if you follow the lable on most brand names or even half strength the ph goes less than 5.0...my GH nutes at 2/3 strength give me PH in the 4's and i have great tap water at 7flat
You're welcome... as I'm finding, there sure is a lot of bullshit on those labels.

Well, it was clear the babes needed to be flushed so I:

1. Took two hits of zippy Thai bongsmilieand went for a run in a driving rain to inspire positive energy and good karma

2. Ran 3 volumes of dechlorinated water pH'ed to 6.5 thru each pot. I pH'ed the runoff at the end of the 3rd volume; actually was still about 6.0 even, but I left the last .5 point to step 3.

3. Added 1 tablespoon of surfacted calcium carbonate to each pot; worked it in about an inch, and watered it in just enough to activate it.

4. Left each pot up on a block to drain them as much as possible; didn't want to now shock them with saturation after a rough pH ride..

5. Put them back in their drain pans up on shims -- didn't want the ponded water sitting around the pot bottoms all evening for same reason as 4.

6. Clipped off all burned and yellowed leaves near or beyond 50% gone so they wouldn't feel fat or like their hair was ugly (you know how babes are...)

Now, time to sit back and see what happens. :-? I refrained from adding back any nutes right now. They are in MG pre-ferted soil, so I suspect there's enough residual nutrition in there to get them started again. Based on where the buds are now, I doubt I have more than 3-4 weeks left anyway.

I'll keep y'all posted.

Thank, bro.. hope it works out.

Saw you over on Veterans' post; his plants are a dead ringer for mine. I'll be surprised if he doesn't have the same issue.

How did your plants respond to your flush? What were the stages?

I swear mine look better already..some leaf tips turned back up (still burnt, of course.. but up).

Okay, peeps... second day since the flush. I have added nothing, not even water (still moist).

I had no plans to revisit this soon, but I came home from work and found about 60-80% of my branches including the colas with about 1/2" of fresh new growth on them. I made some measurements so I can verify tomorrow that I'm really seeing this. The "march of doom" seems to have been arrested. (...? I hope.. sure looks it)

Coincidence?

Alrighty.. It has been a full week since the flush. Checked pH in two of my four pots by random over that week -- clearly betw. 6-7 in both. The buds are DEFINITELY growing again -- new height, new sweet leaves, new buds in the middle of established colas -- I know this is real; measured them from fixed points. At least 1/2" on all of em.. Water usage is clearly up.. The spotting ran all the way up to the tops of the growth existing before I flushed. Since flushing, I watered w/ plain water once, then gave each a feeding of FF Grow Big at 1/4 strength.. that's it, so far.

Looks like this is the fix so far.. You see these reports all time; sometimes you hear what they did to fix it; you almost never hear what the plants ACTUALLY DID. So, tryin to fill that piece in..
