Good idea to change lights?

So I've been vegging for 8 weeks now and Im finally going to start flowering, but my friend told me that it's better to have an HPS light during flower so my question is do you think it's a good idea to change the light from an HID light to a HPS light

You got some info messed up. A HPS is a HID, Metal Halide and High Pressure Sodiums both are. Are you using a MH now ? The answer to your question is yes switch to a HPS light during flowering cycle.

as booms said, I would assume that means you're using a Metal Halide, and yes, switching to a HPS would be better *edit* for flowering*

Mh for veg enhances growth, hps for flowering enhances flower production

Leave the Mh in for first 2 weeks of 12/12 to avoid stretch.

Are you sure? What will happen if I change it right when I put it on to 12/12?
