Good Nutrients for a DWC grow

Hi guys,

I've been reading up on doing a DWC grow, and some people mentioned something about having to use a certain nutrient solution. and that it was better to use liquid synthetic nutrients rather then liquid organic nutrients. and that it would require a certain formula.

can anyone shed some light on this for me? does it really matter what type of nutrients i used for my DWC or am i just making a mountain out of a mole hill.

thx guys.

You will need Aquasheild to keep your roots white, and to avoid root rot.
You CANT use organics with a DWC you'll have tons of issues, stick to synthetic imo.

Try Dyna-Gro or X Nutrients even GenHydro 3-Part is decent too.

i use flora nova and have really good results im also experimenting with cyco nutes but im not as happy with them.

the reason u dont want to go organic is because all the organic matter gives pythium (root rot) something to get established in

A buddy of mine turned me onto the 3 part Cutting Edge Solutions line. Along with the CES I use cal mag and diamond nectar Ph comes out perfect every time and I get great results.(I feel I should tell you I half what the bottles say starting out) I was using DM zone and silica but am switching to microbe tea, its better at protecting your plants from root problems and disease also boosts your roots. I just want to say I am no expert on the tea yet, I was turned onto it by a fellow on rollitup who goes by Heisenberg. Here is the link to his thread I would read up on it, it is very informative.

Good luck to you and your grow

I use the GH lucas formula after having a HORRIBLE EXPERINCE with DWC and organics. So far I have seen amazing results after transfering from a ghetto drip system to deep water culture(up to two inches on some roots a day) the only supplements I've used so far are a cap full of 3% h2o2 a day and some diamond nectar(mostly Humic acid) about a 2ml every 3 days. And my results have been wonderful after getting away from the organics in the dwc(though I hated to do that). But just fiddle around man you'll find what is best for your budget and plants. And goodluck on the DWC I love and swear by it now it amazing and helpful to be able to see your plants roots grow. GOOD LUCK AND GOOD GROW!!

I have been using Cutting Edge and loving it. My ph is a 5.8 and have never seen it move. This is my first DWC and this is how she looks at 2 wks of flowerIMAG0341.jpg

Any standalone mix or multi part mix that gets the majority of it's nitrogen from nitrate will work well for hydroponics. Check that one of the bottles says "derived from calcium nitrate" and then you'll know it's meant for hydroponics. Calcium in any other forum will not be soluble and will not stay in the solution.

If the N is from urea (like in Miracle grow) don't use it for hydroponics. Urea won't hold calcium in the solution. Non-nitrate forms of N need bacteria to convert to nitrate, and that's for organic growers.
