Goose's First Grow

Wassup guys and gals. Well...I had been thinking about growing my own mary jane for a while. Do to my situation...mary jane is what gets me by, and keeps me sane. I'm not looking for a huge plant...or even big...i want the smallest plant with the biggest yield i can get.

So about 5 days ago i started germinating 3 seeds. The next day they were all sprouted...and i planted them each in their own 2 liter bottle setup for now. For now...until i can get some money together I only have 1 floro...yes i know...i need a lot more light. Hopefully in the next week i'll be getting a cabinet and some lights. But...they have all poked through the ground and have an itty bitty set of leaves...have watered when needed...seeing as how many first timers have trouble because they over water (yes i've done lots of homework).

Right now my growbox is in the back of my closet...it's just a little plastic tub until i can get a cabinet from lowes or something...I plan on starting LST in a couple of weeks...and buying nutes and new soil next week...seeing as how i stole the soil from one of my mom's plant pot's...haha

But...yeah..that's all i got so far...and i'm praying i have a female and they are healthy...this weed is gonna help a lot if it does any at all.
Any comments, advice, or constructive criticism is welcome!!
Thanks again for everything...i've learned everything from this forum...and all u guys are awesome...
PEACE

****EDIT****The plants seedlings were planted on the 20th...so they're only 3 days old....edited for future reference:joint:

Ok...I just watered and check my plants...they're still really young...so I don't know if I should worry to much...but 2 of them have a brownish color to them. I don't know if it's from the soil and they haven't really had time...or if i'm doing something wrong..note, they're only like an inch tall.
Any help would be appreciated...
LOVE YOU GUYS!

got any pics?

if its just brown on one of the leaves and at the very tip then you should be ok.

Slow down with the watering too, since U watered in ur last post, try not to water for another 3 or 4 days when the soil is completely dry.

1 CFL is ok for now, but if u can maybe you should put an incandescant light back there in addition..but remember those get very hot! so dont put it too close, and definately make sure you have a fan on them.

also make sure U put tape around the pop bottles so no light gets in and harms the roots.

does the soil you got from you mother contain any organism? pests? bugs? mold?
all of those are potentially dangerous for your plants.
also how well does it dran? how well does it hold water??
Im not trying to bust balls, I just wanna know if U considered any of this stuff..
whats the PH of the water ur using also? thats another potential problem for the changing of color. dont worry about nutes right now, you should be cool for at least the first 2 weeks without any.
what do you plan on using for co2

THanks for the tips spittin...i'll definately put some tape around the bottles...
As for the soil...as far as i know...it was perfectly fine...i mean...she had a plant growing in it...haha
The water i'm using is filtered...so i'm not sure...but i know it doesn't have any chemicals in it...due to the filteration.
And for co2..when i get money i plan on doing the yeast, sugar, water thing in a bottle...is there anything besides yeast i can use...???
Thanks again for the help spittin

EDIT:it also drains alright...but not to fast...so i'm not sure....it doesn't sit on the top or anything...it immediately soaks up...is that good?
And i'll get pics asap

yeast-sugar-water is probably your cheapest best solution..im currently doing the baking soda and vinegar co2, but not only does it stink up the whole area but i also gotta change it like everyday ..

the soil sounds fine, as long as it only soaks what it needs and then allows the rest to drain.

your water sounds to be ok compared to some of the tap water Ive used, but dont be fooled, just bcuz its filtered doesnt mean its good as far as pH. It may be free of chlorine and fluorine, but the pH is what will cause nute lockout and yellowing of leaves.

Thank's a lot spittin...ur a great help!
Well...today I woke up and all of them have grew about an inch and a half...pretty cool. Since I don't have any yeast...i'm gonna try the vinegar thing...co2 is co2 i guess...so yeah...hopefully that helps em out. As soon as i get some pics i'll post them.

What i did was took a 2 liter bottle...put a hole near the top of it...put baking soda in...then vinegar...not sure how much...but it fizzed up and everything...what proportions should i be using??oh btw it has the cap on still...just with a hole near the top.

Tonight I transplanted my babies into a 5 gallon pot. 2 of them are still in the bottle though. I'm really high right now...so i can't go to into detail...will try to comment later...

you'll see a little fizz, but it shouldnt be enough to really even notice. as far as proportions goes it depends on what kinda release you want.

I mean you could have a burst release, where you just mix vinegar & Baking soda in a bowl or something and let it fizz up and release co2 into the air in "one burst "

or you can do a constant release, where you mix vinegar & baking soda in a container with small holes to constantly release the co2 over time this will probably last a couple hours before it runs outta co2

or you can do the drip method, which is what I use. first u get a container with a couple scoops of baking soda in, and get a small bottle and fill it half way with vinegar, put the top on the bottle and puncture a hole in the top.
next I flip the bottle upside down and hang it over the baking soda so the vinegar slowly drips into the baking soda. everytime a drop of vinegar hits the baking soda a small amount of co2 is released into the air. this method lasts me about 2 days and then I need to get fresh ingredients again.

but I was told that the sugar-yeast-water method last like 2 weeks if u mix it in a 1 gallon carton and poke holes in the lid. so obviously that would probably be the best method out of all of these.

you shouldnt NEED co2 supplmentation unless your ventalation is really shitty, or if it's very hot, 90+F, and your plant will only use what it can, depending on how much light/nutes it receives... many many grows are done just as good with no co2 supplimentation, this is not a nessesscity. if you want to go really cheap, keep buying alot of the highest watt cfl's, and keep them within an inch of the plants, as close as possible, to get the max out of the light and to decrease stretching to the lights. it sounds like you're ok so far, get some pics up so we can see, if the browning is on the stems don't worry, purplish-brownish stems are sometimes normal.

if you do use co2, yeast and sugar is the best way to go for a cheap solution, i've done this, but can't really say if it helped.. or not..

hope i helped

Day 8
Well...the plants haven't changed too much. Just gotten greener and and a bit taller...i've moved the light to about 2 inches from them...and i dunno if they're slow or if i'm just bein impatient. None of them are dying...they are still nice and green and still growing a bit...but quite slow..maybe just me...who knows...any input would be cool...:bigjoint::bigjoint:
