Got a Sample Auto Seed. What to do with it?

Some time ago I received some free seeds with an order. I just realized one was an auto.

Delicious Seeds Il Diavolo

I have no experience with autos or methods of growing other than the methods I use now, which work quite well.

In my veg room I use 2' 3' and 4' T5's. Vertical space is limited to 22" above my RDWC buckets.
24/0.

I veg mostly from clone till the plants are 18-22" tall with a nice canopy of tops and then move to the 8x7 flower room that has 3x600W HPS over 45sq feet of SCROG.
Just dialing the whole system in after about 18 months of growing.

Unless I am wrong the Diavolo is not a good candidate for flowering under this kind of tall scrog and I don't want to disrupt my regular grow.

So I would like feedback on a couple of ideas:

I was thinking of using either and individual 5 Gal DWC bucket or 3 Gal Pot with promix.
My first couple of grows were soil and it was a good learning experience but not entirely successful. Now though I really understand the plants much better and think I could be more successful.
Individual DWC buckets grow big healthy plants but I want to keep size reasonable as it will take up space from my production grow and generally get in the way.
I know DWC best of all but individual buckets are more work.
This seed is very much a hobby/learning grow.

For lighting I was thinking of 2 different plans.
First growing her in the Veg room all the way to the end. I could add some supplementary lights to add spectrum for flower?
Not sure about height? If she stayed short it would be fine. Otherwise LST? Top?
I would probably move the room to 20/4

Second, leave her in the veg room until she showed flowers or got too tall and then move her to the flower room. I would just put her next to the scrog. She wouldn't be directly under a light but with 1800W spread around the room there is plenty of light. 12/12

In terms of pruning/training I was thinking of LST and topping/pinching to produce 4 or 5 colas with no side branching.

For nutes I use DNF 2 part Gro/Bloom. CalMax. Plus Botanicaire Sweet in flower.
I was thinking of using Gro until flowers started showing, then flush, a week of 50/50, flush, and then Bloom to the end.

Anyways I am really looking forward to this it should be fun.
The seed is cracking open as I type.

Its not recommended that you lst autos, due to their tiny veg cycle, im LSTing mine a little but thats only because I am very limited in height. Topping is definitely not recommended by anyone. I'd say chuck one in a dwc, in your flower area and let it do its thing. It shouldnt intrude on the rest of your grow, id be suprised if it grew to over 80cm tall.

Don't train the auto, or top/fim. Plant it directly into it's permanent home, root growth is insanely quick, a smaller veg container will negatively effect your growth. grow with at least 20/4 light schedule. The more light the better, would grow wonders in the flower tent, but the 12/12 would destroy yield.

Auto flowers in my opinion are the best "production" hybrid out on the market right now... BUT.. It takes an very advanced technique to see their huge benefits. I always love to see people trying autos, but please don't grow this one auto in your T5 veg tent and pass judgement.

Thanks for the info.
I think I will leave her in the Veg room but buy a 200WCFL warm spectrum to supplement. 20/4
If she gets too big she will have to move to the flower room to finish.

I hope to prune her to a single cola with no lower buds.

Side branching is a good factor in an auto. You're only decreasing your yield seeking a single cola IMO. You can pick your top cola and leave lower growth to develop for a few more weeks if desired.
