Got Any Tips for a First Attempt at Making Seeds?

What up roll it uppers? So I have this strain from the University of Washington called U-Dubb. From what I have read on the net it is on the top ten rarest strains list, so i would like to make some seeds. I was planning on just herming one plant and using the pollen on another female. My question is what are the chances of this working and putting off viable seed? And, what is a good light schedule to get the plant to herm? And, when should i try to herm it, half way through flower? right from the beginning of flower? any tips are greatly appreciated.

Use Colloidal Silver to turn a clone male.

I grow from seed and if I get a male and want to make seeds. I just watch the male at 2 or 3 weeks soon as they have a little pollen in the sacks I'll take the sack and grind them up put'em in big baggie put a long stem in the bags and shake it if you want to do more take 1 female plant out of the room pollenate it a little better. How many seeds you want to make? Got watch'em!!

Okay so pollen is viable as soon as the sack develop then? I was wanting a dozen or so seeds.

Thanks, the avatar is the first seed that I made using Colloidal Silver.

one female will give you way more than 12... more like 100+ but then again it all depends on your size... why make it herm? and not clone?

I was planning on only pollinating a couple nugs. I was thinking herm because i didn't know you could get a clone to turn male. How is that colloidal silver shit used?

You can also let the buds ripen until bananas start to show. It's less stressful on the plant and some believe that it has less impact on a plant's tendency to herm versus colloidal silver.

What are you talking about?

Instead of harvesting the bud on a female plant that is ripe, leave them on and watch the female carefully. Before long (days to a couple weeks, I believe), you'll start to see bananas forming. It's a last-ditch effort by the plant to reproduce after having gone "all season" without being pollinated. Some refer to it as Overripe. It is believed to be a natural function of the plant in nature to ensure the survival of the species, and by that reasoning, believed to be less stressful on the plant's genetic stability. Because of this, advocates of the method believe this to not be a "true herm", as opposed to the spontaneous production of male plants due to extreme environmental stress.

rzza is far more knowledgeable on this subject than I am. He's the one who piqued my interest in it. If you PM him I'm sure he'll be able to tell you much more than I can, and give you a solid rundown on how it works.

Quite a few people have had great success with colloidal silver, it's simple (and cheap) to make, easy to use and generally has pollen sacs developing after 2 weeks.

... or you can let your plant go beyond ripeness and wait for the pollen sacs - trouble is you have to wait till the plant is ready, colloidal silver lets you determine when and where the pollen sacs develop.

Yeah, they call 'em bananas because that's what they roughly resemble. And it's not just ripe, it's overripe. Like I said, PM rzza. He knows the method well.
