Got spider mites

Late to thread but wanted to add my 2-cents for future cases. First there are two products that I use in flower when needed. One is called ladybug killer and the other is green magic. They work fine, the problem is that there are just too many hiding places in flower and they are only really good for knocking them down. Second, I agree that there is nothing really wrong with spider mite weed. They don't really infest the bud and stay on the outside, you clear almost all the webs during trimming and I would say you lose about 10% of the buds. I would have no problem giving it to people. A) Nobody has ever noticed B) If they want the best of the best (their definition not mine) then they are welcome to go to a lab testing Dispensary and drop 4oo and ounce or more for what in my opinion is not even better weed, although pest free. People smoke outdoors all the time with all of Mother Nature is there, bird crap and all. And last, peanut butter is allowed to have so many rat hairs per litter, pot babies need to grow up.

Plants most always finish fine if infestation starts early in flower. Takes a while to get to the point of webbing and leaf death, etc. been there many times. A plant infested at week 3 can and most often will finish just fine without any treatment
I have to disagree on that, at least from the shit shows I've seen.

Man you guys are really ok with smoking spider mite weed? Lol damn shits hard out there.

My buddy was on that "spider mite buds are fine" tip and nobody was running to score his buds. He pass me a pipe he'd pack and I'd just straight pass it to the next person. Call me a pot snob or question my masculinity but that shit is better than smoking dead bugs and shit.

I'd tear down and start over.

Yup starting over, how long of a wait though before using equipment? I've read they will cling to just about anything

More likely than not you have smoked mites before and never knew it. Any outdoor weed you've ever smoked had some sort of bug in it. And no, things aren't hard out here, but they also aren't wasteful. If by weight you had 0.1% mites why would you care? The crap people put down their throats every day and the only reason they care about this is because somebody told them they should. For real.

No one had to tell me about mites. Like I mentioned my buddy always had mites. Sure I've smoked some but if given the choice I'll pass.

You need to learn ipm.
I wouldnt start over in week three or any week really, they are just going to come back.

How big of a plant?

You would think that if you sprayed just water alone every three days you would get rid of them. Or at least control them down to a population of ten by the time you chopped. Depends how good you spray 100% coverage is the minimum, and what sprayer you use is a huge part of it.

You could spray neem for the next one- two weeks then a pyrethrin (jacks) for a week then water for the last two weeks. Mighty wash is ok but expensive and that product you need a fine mist sprayer or you waste it. Silica in the plant makes it chewy and the bugs dont like it. lots of ways to battle the mites other than cutting it down.

I'm from a world where a gram could cost up to $50 US. We used to scrap the crap out of pipes to smoke that shit again. Yeah, it's not the best, just isn't bad.

They are already gone, treated with mighty wash and green cleaner several times, just need to get equipment back to operational

I know wbere they came from, i broke the golden rule and brought one in from outside, what a huge mistake! But i learned a very very valuable lesson!!

Have had mites many times and the bud was just as good as when it didn’t have mites. Absolutely zero difference in taste and potency, but I understand your concerns about having dead mites it eggs in bud. Some people don’t like that at all and won’t buy it if they know
Not down with the snap crackle pop

I would get a Doktor Doom fogger and the spray, bomb the room.
Those are a waste of money and dont work like you think it would and I dont think they kill eggs. The only way they might work is to wrap the whole plant in a large garbage bag and fog that. And for the cost of a sprayer and some water you get the same results, probably better results.

Next time i have to go around with those nasty dudes I'm gonna try alachol/water with a couple drops of soap
3 cups water 1 cup rubbing alcohol and 30ml of a clean scent and dye free dish soap. Shake well during the spraying as the alcohol will separate from the water, sprayed every three days five times and you shouldn't have any mites. If you get 100%coverage.

Anymore than a 50/50 ratio and you will run the risk of damaging the plant. And you dont want to spray this in heavy flower.

Just go to wal-mart Hotshot Pest Strip one time and used those, not to be seen again in two years.
Just read the precautions about how long you can stay in room with them in your room. I just put mine in a zip-lock baggie while in.
They work.
