in theory yes salt sterilizes.... in real life it's not a problem though.

to each their own,but my roots stay fuzzy and white in the rootball (i use promix and pearlite) while others using salts have white roots,but no fuzzy white around them...
but like i said,if you over kill,it works..

also,its a good reason why you have to use it every time in a hydro set up,where i just dip my roots and let the colony flourish...

Hostility is totally unnecesary. I never said pondzyme does not work. It works and I've been using it. What I'm saying is that it does not make some other products redundant. Manufacturer refuses to name exact microorganisms in it, but whatever they are, based on the products intended purpose, they are probably specialized for organic waste decomposition and not root colonization. Thus adding microorganisms that colonize the rootzone, form non pathogenic biofilms and directly attach other microorganisms should still be usefull.

if the pz keeps roots healthy, other additives are not needed. unless you just want to add expense effort and more points to fuck up. I used to dick with the tea also with mixed results. Too much molasses will trigger slime, not enough microbes and no foam. also had mycogrow turn bad on me and trigger the worst slime bloom I have ever seen.

you are in a completely different setup tho... dwc will have fishbones but you wont get fuzz submerged in water.

if you REALLY want some crazy myco(and im glad i remembered this) check out paul staments webpage(yes hes the guy with the magic mushrooms,and 100s of other fungi)..i used some of his myco my first commercial grow and havent hit that mark since..and its cheap!..im off to get some now...

So I did some research on these products and here is what I found out.
Not sure about preventing slime and for hydro, but for soil, products like this have to make contact with the roots when transplanting.
Spray the soil where the root ball will be transplanted to in the larger container.
"there are only two known endomycorrhizal fungi species which colonize the roots of cannabis/hemp.
They are Glomus Intraradices and Glomus Mosseae."
Here are some other helpful facts. Did a comparison of the available products on the market including great white, subculture m and B, ZHO and many others. Here is what one person who knows his stuff responded.

"BioAG Vam is the only product I'd recommend. VAM includes seven species of endo-mycorrhizae with a heavy dose of the aggressive Glomus intraradices, It should also be noted that VAM contains only endo-mycorrhizae so growers aren’t wasting money on ectos that only associate with trees.

The MOST IMPORTANT aspect is that VAM does not contain any Trichoderma which is cheap, the spore count for it in these mixes usually eclipses all the other organisms put together. Unlike endomycorrhizal fungi, Trichoderma requires no root contact to sprout and grow. In addition to this, its favorite food is other fungi...... guess what happens if your chosen product contains 10,000 spores per gram of Trichoderma and 100 spores per gram total of other fungal species.... think highlander"

Don't waste your money if your not going to do it correctly.

Just a note from a guy who has until now relied peroxide for all his root maintenance. For the last few weeks I have been running power clean as a test. Also I am way beyond the cutoff point for my indoor grows as it is getting way to hot and res temps are now hitting 77F. My roots have never been healthier as far as I can tell lol. When using peroxide they were white for half the res change but off white for the last half. Roots are now whiter and it seems that new small hairs and fishbones are forming. I will be looking into one of the cheaper products (pondzyme) to use next season!

Use h& g roots excel , and you'll have no problems!
