Been gone a while, but awesome to see this thread going strong!
Currently vegging some Blueberry and White Widow freebies to get the room dialed in after having it down for a while - running in amended organic living soil, fed aact, myco, and homemade KNF inputs. Gonna let them roll for another couple of weeks and then they’ll get the flip. Much love

My plants love comfrey FPE
Are you growing your own Comfrey? I have heard good things about Comfrey.

This from a quick Google
Comfrey out-performs manure, compost and many liquid feeds for concentration of nutrients. It produces these from a deep root system extending right into the subsoil that most edible plants cannot access. It also has an ideal Carbon:Nitrogen ratio which means that it does not hamper absorption of nitrogen by plants.

Yup - i live in northern Canada, it’s actually a banned plant in Canada (still..I believe) but I picked up bocking 14 cuttings this spring, I absolutely love growing it, it’s a beautiful plant and easy to grow. I use it to make FPE, also feed it to my worms. The nutrient content is really complex in comfrey, just packed with lots of what cannabis needs.

I’ll make FPE out of anything tho… lol just to give it a shot. Really liked my marigold and my hemp nettle batches this year

Ya know I bought a seed pack of organic comfrey 2 yrs ago and never sprouted them? It’s about time I think...
I didn’t know you could grow from seed, that’s cool. I had a really hard time sourcing available root cuttings where I’m at, they kept selling out like those fancy-pants genetic drops You just gotta be selective about where you grow it, because once it’s established that tap root goes deeeeeeep. They’ve been doing well in pots tho, I’m going to try to winter them over inside (it’s a -40C freeze where I’m at)

I just looked into growing from seeds. Interesting!

People also ask

Is comfrey easy to grow from seed?

Image result for comfrey seeds

Comfrey can be grown from seed, but it requires a winter chilling period to germinate. It's also not unusual to sow the seeds and not see any germination for two years. So it's more common to propagate the plant from root cuttings.Aug 8, 2020
So if I want to grow them they need a cold winter.
I wonder if freezer would work?

Happy Sunday!

Well ordering HPS bulbs has been a delay. I am trying again but I may have to take a 80 mile trip to get some.
So these guys are still under the CFLs' but are alive so all is well.

I still cannot tell if the two I hope are male are male except I think I saw a pistil coming out of a new growth on a picture I took. Nothing definite on that.

For those who are secretly CFL fans ( yeah right ) here are my four still waiting on some serious HPS light.

I just read that Confrey treats the kind of mold you had.
Maybe so but the root cause was basement flooding; also don’t see how you could “treat” powder mold w/Comfrey once it has set in but thx anyway

A regular fridge will do the same thing; cold seasoning for a month or so before germination. That’s why I still haven’t started them myself....

Well, second time is the charm.
Two Hortilux 250 Watt HPS bulbs arrived and quick they did!
I have something excellent to say about :

  • VIVOSUN Hydroponics 6" Air Cooled Grow Light Reflector for 250/400/600/1000W HPS/MH Bulbs - High-Reflectivity Vega Aluminum Hood- with 1 Pair Rope Hanger, No Bulbs Included.

VIVOSUN Hydroponics 6" Air Cooled Grow Light Reflector
It comes with hangers, excellent ropes and so cool, Bulb Gloves!

So here are the shots of last day CFLs', First day HPS and the parking of the CFLs'

Yesterday I awoke at 3 AM and the lights were still on. That new digital timer failed to shut things off.
Man I hate that. And now they have a new light source. I can tell these plants are a bit confused.
Hopefully a few days will have them back to growing strong.

Told ya that we don’t stop yes I told ya that we don’t stop....
As it was aforementioned our goal here is to not run outta weed so that being said this one has been harvested. Another week may have brought it to peak level of potency but wtf we are low on bud...

She’s a little thirsty here as you can see but buds are huge & solid; shoulda cloned her out more ...really digging this pheno: nice old school dank aromas and clustered bud structures... magnificent

Well, things ain't going as good as they could. But it was stated that we not only show our good grows here, but also our mistakes.

Day 42 Flower i opened my tent and immediately spotted a forming seed in one of the Gorilla Zkittlez buds.
Inspected both plants and only found 1 male flower in the Gorilla Zkittlez.

Until now didn't see any other seed but one. I'm also confused because i see lots of white thick hairs in both plants instead of them looking pollinated. Will keep and eye open, and hope to harvest some bud to smoke and not just seeds.

Tent material is shitty and i believe it can have some light leakage issues. But male flower was found in a branch that was almost in the middle of the tent. And the other plant didn't show any male flower. So i guess is genetics unstable enough that they make male flowers under little stress?

-------

On the grow tent...guess what? Also problems!

The last batch of seeds are/were having a bad time in the initial soil i mixed up.
Wanted a light soil made by myself, but it seems i have gone (very) wrong with the peat:lime relation here.

I guess seedlings suffered a pH lockout. Young yellow leaves, very slow growth, poor rooting.

So here is a collage. Greener plants were repotted to amended organic soil almost a week ago, and little yellow ones between yesterday and today. So i'm hoping to have all these regular plants kicking back in 7-10 days.

Thought to suggest being sure any power lights (LEDs') or any other possible light source are covered.
Once I had problems and it was the Green LED on the GFCI.
I thought Green Light was not a problem but that Green LED on the GFCI was.

Oh, just to update.

Now hand watering twice a day with just the right amount now that they are under twin 250 watt HPS. No one seems to be making twin 250s anymore.
It is time to take clones and when they are established then it will be time to flip the lights and see what I have,
I did say this is a seed rescue so no special efforts to win any accolades are being taken.
I did close down my build thread due to harassment but the work continues.I went with 4K HPS because I want to reuse the heat for the human living space and or vent it.

I may try an LED light or two in the future but I trust Hortilux Eye to do just fine.
