grow box setup - need help with lights

ok well this is my first grow, and because of my house i have to grow in my room behind my desk. i didnt have much time to get lights and stuff because the plant was given to me by a friend who started it off in his window sill. this is my setup rite now:

i have been using just the one 75 watt bulb for the past 2 days and it seems to be fine but not growing much at all:

here are the lights that im using:

for a few hours i hooked up this old flourecent light but then took it out since i didnt even know if it was helping me at all:

one thing that has been bothering me is that the box has to be sealed off during the night so that the light doesnt come into my room, making it very hot in there. i have been going in there a few times a day and opening it up...

so now what im thinking is that ill get a cfl from ace hardware, since it is the only place that has that stuff where i live. so does anyone have any suggestions on a cheap cfl that i could get at ace? like under 20 dollars. like what kind of light should i be looking for, how many watts do i want? what color temp do i want? info like that would be really helpful.

and also, just out of curiosity, what do you guys think about the lights/setup i have rite now? am i bound to fail with what ive got? or would it work? i know the box im growing in is really small, but for now i only plan on growing 1 plant, and plan on flowering it when its only about a foot tall.

rite now i have it set on my bed next to the window to see how much better it reacts to sunlight.

well, thats about it, any tips, suggestions, questions, anything, would be very much appreciated.

thank you.

if your using cfl's, you want as many as you can get, or one or two of the highest wattage you can find., also that floro you had was probably helping more than that incandescent light, those are the WORST lights, literally.your absolutely bound to fail with what you got, get more lights (all cfl since you have a really tiny spot.) also, you'll need to vent that space if you don't want the plant to cook in there since you said it get hot in there at night. btw does that mean that the lights are off in there but it's still really hot, or the lights are on in there and you don't want the light coming into your room from the space?

ok ill go get some cfls rite away, but what should i look for?

and yes, the lights are on at night, rite now im doing 24 hour lighting. i have left it overnight with the lights on and it was fine in the morning, it just wories me a little...

ok so until i run down to ace and get that cfl in about an hour, should i just use the flourecent light that i had earlier? or both?

btw, how much is one of these cfls going to cost me?

it really doesn't matter, and CFL will work, just make sure you get a few of them.

I would use all the lights you can since you don't have a HID light. do you know what the temps are in the space? anything above 90 or so and your going to cook the plant. I would leave the lights off for 6 hours a day (normally during the hottest part of the day), that way it give the room a chance to cool off since you don't have any ventilation.

ok will do. rite now i have my window open and the foil lifted up over the desk so its pretty cool in there rite now. ok well i only have one lamp to hook up the cfl to, so would it work if i just got 1 higher intensity cfl and used the flourecent lamp i have in there too? and if so, how many watts am i looking for?

im not sure what the temps are rite now cus i dont have anything to measure it with... well, i have, a mercury thermometer, will that work?

Orecal said it. Loose the foil as well

Foil reflectivity - 57%

White paint reflectivity - 85%

More reflectivity = more light = more bud.

(orecal, get that sunk up yet? what was it skunk 11?)

well i dont have white paint, and i cant paint my desk... so its iether foil or nothing... or paper lol, but im guessing that would be a bad idea.

replace that foil with white paper, also get CFLs, 6500k would be great for veg. You can find those at wal mart.

no i haven't I'm really pissed at myself, haven't gotten around to fixing the room up yet.... but I've got my supplies now, so that's my project for tonight. I've already got the seeds germinating though...... I had one of the Skunk 1's that the person who brought them back for us had going, but it turned out male......... a bummer to say the least.

get the biggest CFL you can find since you only got one socket..... and definitely put the floro in there with it.

If you want to grow that plant and have any chance of getting bud off of it I would get four of those bulbs and a fan.

holy shit... 4 of those for 1 plant?? i was thinking 1 of those bulbs... cus i cant have more than 1 of those in there. maybe i should get a bigger/brighter bulb?? or would these maybe work? and also, keep in mind guys that im not looking for lots of bud, i just want to grow a small plant since it is my first time. i will make a stealth grow box later when i get more serious about it.

"Soft White" bulbs produce a more red/orange colored light that is better for flowering. "Day Light" is a more blue colored light which is better for vegetative growth.

They should still grow with either type though. Just get as many as you can. I can't say I've ever seen a grow that was actually completed with a single, low wattage CFL bulb. It can probably be done with a really small plant but don't expect much in the way of results.

hey guys i need help. my plant is looking droopy and sad, any1 know why this might be? i only have 1 cfl on it, its been on 24/7. its been getting plenty of water tho. my friend who gave me the plant had been watering it with tap water, which has bleach and shit in it, i only yesterday got ahold of some filtered water, but its got quite a bit of water in the pot so i dont want to over water it. so what you guys think? is it from using bad water? or is it maybe something else. and if so, should i try to just add the good water and try to flush out all the bad water? or should i just wait?
