Grow Cab Construction Help Needed

First, thanks for taking the time to read my post. I have been growing medical marijuana for myself for about 3yrs. I was a member of OG when it was around, and most recently on CC. But CC is so slow, and doesn't work half the time, so now I'm here.

I want to upgrade my 3'x2' cab to a 4'x4' cab. I built my last cab, but its not all that sturdy, and I want my next one to be a little higher quality. I already have it all designed, exhaust, light placement, etc, I just don't know how to put two walls together at the corner.

I know how to build a wall, I just can't figure out how to put the 3 sides together. The front will just be velcro and poly so I only need the three sides. I am also thinking of just building it out of pvc, but I don't know if that will hold my A/C reflector and my exhaust fan.

Any hints as to how to put the walls together? I will be framing them like you would a wall for a house, each side with a stud at each corner, and one in the middle, then another 2x4 across the tops and bottoms. I am just going to connect a piece of plywood to the top with studs across it to hang my fans and reflector.

Please help me figure out how to put the coners together. Thanks for the help.

cab ...tent.. same thing. tomato, tamato. lol.. my tent is made of 3/4 pcv. it's light enought i can move it by myself and sturdy enought to hold everything. I would use thin metal tubing like the premade huts tho if you are looking for long term but my pvc is doing just fine. in my experience with my tent and pvc they sell some v shaped connector with a hole in the center that work well for corners. to hold stuff up in the tent i used zip ties, and those metal brackets that use a screw driver to adjust... forgot the name of them. hope this helps

you could get the flashing used on roofs, I think it is $2.00 for a 10ft piece then cut it and caulk it overtop of the wood. Structurally maybe doesn't help but no light will get thru.

Thanks for the replies.

With your pvc, do you have an exhaust fan hanging from it? My reflector said to have a mount that can hold 50lbs, so that is the main thing I am worried about. It is kind of big and was almost $200, so I don't want it to fall. If I wasn't hanging anything that was heavy or of great value, I would just make it out of the pvc. I may look into making it out of metal.

Any other tips would be greatly appreciated.

Normally you would double up the studs on the outsides of the back wall and then screw the side walls into the now wider ends.

Here...lemme toss some MS Paint at ya!

Yaddaimean?

That is what I was looking for, thank you. So once you double up the studs on the outside, the side walls just screw into the middle of where the 2 on the outside connect? Or do they screw into one of the 2 on the outside?

Sorry about all the questions, I'm just kinda retarded when it comes to construction.

I would put two screws in.

MORE MS PAINT ACTION!

Just screw through the framed side wall and attach like this!

Also, flush the outside of the frame as a 2x4 is actually 1.5x3.5 you're going to have 1/2 an inch of overlap.

Hope this helps!

Beautiful!! Thats exactly what I needed to know. I was thinking I may have to put 4x4s there, but this is much better. Thanks so much.

Well if anybody cares, I just built all the walls for my new cab. I haven't put them all together yet because they are kinda heavy, and I have to rebuild my window box and move my old flower cab (which is becoming my new veg cab).
You will be able to see it in my grow log in my sig. There should be pics of it by wed or so. It is 4'x4'x6'6" and I am building a pvc table to hold all my plants and whatnot. It should be pretty nice. Check it out next week and tell me what you think.

how is that cab going for ya??? I did start off with a cabinet, wood and so forth, but just like you said too darn heavy. I grow in super stealth and i don't want anything too heavy just in case.. feel me?? When you are done with your cab show us some pics cause when i get my house i may use them, cool?
