Grow Northwest

Spring is here, and it's time to get growing. Does anyone have recommendations for great Pacific Northwest strains? Especially strains that are resistant to cold, and powdery mildew?
Any advice would be much appreciated.

They're both from the Pacific Northwest and both talk specifically about breeding for cold weather and mold resistance. I don't have personal experience with Vashon seed or Oregon green seed, but they are on my list of breeders that I would like to try out.

Times are changing quickly in this industry.

No matter what you grow and regardless of mold resistant claims the PNW will rot your plants. It's going to depend on the late summer/early fall weather. All strains will mold despite some "High resistance to mold" claims. What you want is a strain that will finish in late September/early October.

Yes, I agree. I live in Western Washington, the home of powdery mildew. Haaa
I used to have numerous early strains. I'm starting new again doing the outdoor.

OH, I love your quotes, and agree wholeheartedly. Especially the 2nd one. Most people don't seem to get it.
If it's for personal use, i.e. a small amount in a bag, its curing already, and you want a bit more moisture content (within reason), otherwise it dries in the bag and then they complain some more.

I'm just south of you in Oregon. When the weather really starts changing in October with cold nights, foggy mornings, and high humidity things can go south overnight.

There are definitely some good European breeders out there, but I do like to buy as local as I can, and for me personally, it is good to see breeders doing breeding work with an emphasis on creating strains that address the concerns of outdoor growers in cold and/or wet climates. There are a lot of us.

I totally agree, I bought my first seeds from Sensi Seedbank, around 1985. I still have the catalogue. I love finding new phenotypes, and making new creations.

Figured out how to get my avatar picture from my phone to my computer, and then upload it to my profile. This is my newest creation. Just harvested monday.

Lots of white pistils or hairs looks like it had a few weeks to go.

I'd take a look at primo seeds,breeder from southern Or. Tried alot of seed banks from the web but his stuff is very consistant and very resilliant. I've put a few of his strains through hell from noobish mistakes (like the one pictued) and still came out with great smoke.
Just a suggestion.

Oregon Elite seeds

Critical Kush is said to be a warm climate plant but grew well outdoors last year, no bud rot or PM where everything else was fucked in MI.

I grew up there and all the weed we got was indoor chronic. Outdoors was more friendly to Shrooms.

The Skunk strains are some of the more resistant to mold and shit.

I wouldn't totally rely on the genetics. Even Vashon Island Early girl.. (all good stuff though, and local!)

If you can.. Double layered hoop greenhouse with power, dehumidifier, fans, RDWC buried into the ground, scrog nets, auto light-dep blackout system (initiate flowering from July-Sep instead of mid August-Rot tober).

Run anything you want.
