first grow room set up. im building a grow room in a spare bed room 10x12. im using a 1000w air cooled hps. i need to cool the light and vent the room. how do i do this? do i need to get 2 inline blower fans. or can i make do with 1. im thinking i need 1 to cool the light and 1 to exhaust the room. how is everyone doing the job with a similar set up?

...get a reversable carbon filter w/ proper inline fan (pay attention to the CFM of each and try to match them) ...through my own experience, connect the light to exaust, then connect the fan to suck the heat from the light...on the opposite end, place your filter in your attic, connect venting tube w/ fan blowing into filter.

...if you don't have a reversable carbon filter: connect your filter to your light on one side...then connect the fan to the other, to suck the filtered air through the light, to exaust the heat ( odorless air) ...then exaust the heat/filter'd air outdoors.

I have a similar size room using a 1kw air cooled light. I use a 4" 178cfm fan to push air through the hood and a 6" 440 cfm fan puling air through a Can-75 filter to ventilate the room. I have the hood fan pushing because it will last longer not having hot air being drawn through it.

hey redi jedi, i have an 8" elicent fan & have 8" ducting & 2 8' aircooled hoods bought already, but want to buy a 4" fan like yours for intake. What type of ducting do you have attached to the 4". It looks like it gradually gets bigger. Just wondering how to go up sizes when you have a smaller fan going to a bigger fan.

There is a 4" to 6" adapter on the exhaust of the 4" fan. The ducting is insulated 6". The adapter is galvanized sheet metal duct. You can pick one up at any building supply store. You might need two adapters if you want to go from a 4" fan to 8" duct......

I should also mention....I highly doubt a single 4" fan will be enough to cool two hoods, maybe with 400w bulbs...unlikely with 600w...and no chance if using 1000w.
