Just thought I would throw this out there in case anybody else could use this idea.
I have a veg room I use but I needed to cut out all light coming in but still needed all the airflow that I can from that window. I had those shades you pull down on the window and mini blinds, these were already there from before but... I put up two layers of 1/2 inch carpet padding stapled around the window to block out the light coming in.
I dont have any light leaks from that window and I have some airflow for the room I can pull with a fan that sits in the middle of the room and blows out the door to another room to keep the air moving.
Works for me. I had a bunch of carpet padding laying around. Try it if you think it will work for you.

I'm currently using a towel to block the light haha, but it works for me
