Grow Tent vs Grow Box

I just completed construction of my first somewhat legitimate grow box, except for the ventilation which should be properly set up by Friday. Overall I spent probably ~$150-200 on the wood, screws, brackets, etc. It's 4x4x5 (w/l/h). And now that I am done I'm starting to second guess my decision already. I've been thinking a lot about the stealth factor, and back up plans in case I need to quickly take it down for some reason. The more I think about it the more I realize that if I remove all the screws and undo everything, it probably will take quite a while, and not be as stable when I put it back up.

So I've been thinking that maybe it would have been smarter to just buy a small greenhouse and set it up in the room. My primary concerns are smell and heat. I think a tent would be better for heat simply because it is more permeable and wont hold as much heat in as 1/2" thick boards. But as far as smell is concerned, I am worried that the smell would escape the tent much easier than a box. To all you tent growers, do u have issues with the smell escaping easier? Or is it not a problem as long as you have some good ventilation going?

Here's what I have now:

Here's what I'm thinking of buying (or something similar): http://www.amazon.com/Flower-House-FHSP300-SpringHouse-Greenhouse/dp/B00012D02W/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1364777476&sr=8-4&keywords=plastic+greenhouse

a complete tear down isn't necessary, plant removal along with any plant scraps is
in reality, you probably won't be lucky enough to get much warning

As far as smell goes, you need a filter and exhaust fan, which I would suggest if you're going with either a tent or cab.

I have a tent (gorilla grow tent), as long as you can generate negative pressure with a filter inside, you should be golden. I was in the predicament you are in and I opted for the tent for quick tear down (10 mins and its back in the bag.) But as previously stated by another smart individual, 99% of the time you do not have a far enoigh lead to tear down if shit hits the barn fan. That 1% is if (and i do mean if) you catch wind of something fishy.

You do not have 10 minutes of time if they are coming to kick your door in. If they knock you can refuse but if thwy come with force, the fact that you have a tent or grow box is obsolete by then because the evidence is there already....hope this helps

P.s.

Speaking from experience, 5yr bid with 7 yrs of extended supervision (parole, will be off in may 16. Cant stop the chaos!)

I'm thinking more along the lines of the management giving me 24 hrs notice to a walk thru or saying they have to come inspect something or check something etc. I rent, don't own. Mainly worried about a situation where I'll have 24 hours. It would be just a little better for my paranoia if I knew I could have everything taken down and some plants tucked away off in a closet somewhere with a lock on it, and have it all back up in under an hour if I wanted.

that does make sense, that is where you have the luxury of some time

I would go tent then....I rent also and have fire inspections regularly so yes it does come in handy when police are not involved

Unless you were to build your cabinet as a disguise. Maybe put some lockable cabinet doors on it so it and finish it to look legit. Build another one and put it on top you could put your filter and fan in it. Then it would look like just cabinets in your room. No tear down necessary. You'd only have to kill power to the light and fan when they came in so they wouldn't hear anything. GL
