Growing and growers in popular media?

I'm going back and rewatching that old Showtime show, Weeds. I completely forgot that growing was a major plot point of S2.

The show in general is pretty hit or miss about the drug game, but I thought it was funny the way they treat Conrad and his obsession with growing and breeding, and all the people talking up their particular strains as the solution to every issue you can imagine was funny and felt true. Everyone's strain flowers the fastest, grows in the most conditions, and has the sickest trichomes, bro!

Has growing been a plot point in any other media?

I also question whether or not a drive-by would have been a thing for someone who's only in the weed business in 2005 California. There was already a burgeoning "legal" industry in CA, I just can't imagine profit margins were high enough to toss bullets into someone's house.

Weeds is a good show, but it's portrayal of cannabis is pretty laughable, like it was written by a bunch of people who've never smoked in their lives but watched a bunch of Cheech and Chong movies and read a few back issues of High Times. Doug is pretty funny though. Let's see, other shows....you could always watch Black Jesus!

Yeah, Doug and "you can't miss the bear!" were the reasons I started it again. It's definitely not accurate as to the weed game, but the humor is on point.
