In Los Angeles county they do smoke alarm inspections every 6 months. Simply tell them that you work from home and cannot have interruptions, the manager will likely pass your apartment up, say it was inspected, and give you a battery to replace the old smoke alarm battery. :)

Been growing in an apt for 2 years....One night I was here on RIP when the helicopters started flying by, I looked up and a cop was shining a flashlight into my patio ( I was growing in the patio closet) I shit my pants but kept my cool, they were chasing some murderer (saw it on the news the next day) So I guess my op is as stealth as it needs to be, huh? Some apts are required to give you 24 hours notice before entering to do any maintenance (sans emergency stuff). I've got my bedroom closet turned into a Veg room, and the patio as a Flower room...I've never seen one of those tents, or where youre gonna put it, but can it be "explained" if they did pop in? They usually have no reason to go into closets~ and you can always pull the plug for 20 minutes if theres a maintenance knock...

good old william cooper. i grow in my apt, just make sure you got a good ventilation system with a nice carbon filter. and leave your room locked at all times.

I grow in a flat too, I have just converted a wardrobe into a wee grow room. The door is kept locked (for insurance purposes if anyone asks), the lights come on at night and everything is extracted through a carbon filter.

I have read a lot of bad reviews about the tents, plus they are kinda hard to explain - you could say it's a photography dark room, but that's a bit naf really. Wardrobe grows ftw!

good to hear your gonna get started! good luck!

can your tent be made to look like one of those plastic zip-up closets? thatd be a good answer if you ever hear, 'what is that?' form a landlord or maintenence dude.

Just finished taking my closet room down today. It can be done, and you'd be suprised how easily. I had 8 gorgeous loves under a 600 hps w/ equalizer-air cooled w/ a 6in can-fan (240 cfm) and another can-fan (same size) connected to an oversized carbon filter to compensate for the added resistance. The fan exhausted the air in the closet in just over a minute which created a fantastic vacccum effect. I cut one huge hole in the top left of the closet and exhausted all the air into the walls using a Y-connector (the wall being exhausted into was shared with my bedroom closet...may re-think it if its shared with a neighbor). I also cut two rectangle holes at the bottom either side of the door as intake vents *cover with vents, you don't want bugs or trash entering your room. Add a heat-shield to your hood to reduce heat and you'll be gravy. I also ran CO2 but thats another story.

Anyways, after the rambling, in essence it can be done. Make sure there is NO light that escapes the cracks of the door (dead give-away). If so, keep the hallway light on when people come over if necessary. Also, ONA Gel is your best friend when it comes to apartments. Put a little in a cup and place it in random hidden spots (right before your grow room, at the front door, AC Vents, etc). Well, my 2 cents, happy growing.

O and just like the guy above me stated, install a lock. It doesn't have to be a pad lock, but a new lock so only you and MAYBE another person have.

Yea, i think all the good points have been covered. Lights on at night, keep all signs of growing away from the kitchen, bathroom, front door, balcony, or other places maintenance people might be called to. (a water leak, for example, will get them in your apartment with little warning) keep it in a bedroom; keep the bedroom door closed. Use odor control.

Some apartments, like mine, have electric dryers. Electric dryers that vent to the outside, sometimes far above ground level. Yep, exhaust vents pre-installed, for your pleasure.

Dude, I feel you i live on the 7th floor of 14 in an overpriced 380 sg foot apt. I'm building a 3ft x 2ft x 5ft grow wardrobe... I figure keep your mouth shut and watch who comes in and have a reason it is locked.. my grow room will be my gun closet.

it -is- frowned upon to grow in an apartment... for the obvious reasons.

that said, make sure you change the locks on your apartment (w/o telling the landlord or asking for consent) ... and if it is in a closet then keep a lock on that door as well. and a very active carbon filter/tent setup is deff. the way to go.

and if you are going to keep growing for any length of time... look at moving into a mobile home or house in the country, where the landlord seems more interested in leaving you alone than in ever coming around. and then, once again, change the locks.

just to be on the safe side i would advise to wait 3-4weeks before doing anything bc you want to get a feel for the neighbours and landlord. make sure noise level is low and the smell of course will be a very big issue. again, i learned a tip to tape up all the sockets that i dont use in the immediate space because smell can travel very easily. i wish you all the luck friend and just stay positive!!

William Cooper RIP true America, even though I am not, i have the deepest respect for him bc he went all the way. I do a lot of research on this whole mess and find him to be the most accurate vs michael tsarion or jordan maxwell.....

oh one more thing, pls remove your city and state, i feel very uneasy posting these things as i do for yourself.

anyways godbless
